  1. Help!!! I'm trying to replace the right passenger door regulator. Removed doorpanel, rivets, steel panel, rivets at the bottom side of the regulator, the connection between the window and the regulator (glass window taped so it won't fall down) but am unable to get the regulator out!? Somehow it seems it is fixed at the metal bar? Could somebody help me? I'm really desperate! Can't find any tutorial anywhere.... Thanks!
  2. I have a big issue with my roof and windows at my 2007 2.7 987 Boxster unfortunately most information I can find is for 986. The roof is mecanical closed but electronic say "open" and the windows remain in "roof operation position" 4cm down Roof is not moving anymore... The relays S3 and S5 are already checked...so next step in the root cause analysis... The roof motor has 2 wires. green and black. How many sensors /microswitches are in the 987? I can only find one, at the top. Can anybody support with wiring diagram?
  3. I just resolved a window issue on my 2007 Porsche Cayman and wanted to post and help out anyone with a similar issue. My passenger side window was functioning normally except for when I closed my door the automatic window drop to clear the door seal was not returning to the complete up position and was staying down. The automatic up feature on the window was also not working. The auto-down feature worked and all other functions of the window performed normally. So to be clear, when you pulled the exterior and interior door handles the widow dropped the 10mm or 1/4 inch it should. However, upon shutting the doot the window would stay down in this position and not return up. So.... I decided to do some research and came across the "latch micro switch issue".. I figured hey part isn't that expense so I replace the latch and the issue remained. After much more research, I came across a post about that issue being caused from a faulty door motor ECU. This IS the reason for the issue. After, disconnecting the battery, taking off the door panel using numerous videos and instructions from this site and others I was able to quickly replace the motor unit with a new one that I got on ebay for $120. The motor is easy to remove, 3 screws and then just pull the motor straight out and it will disconnect from the window regulator. Next, pop in the new one and you are good to go. Finally, the issue was resolved upon reconnecting the car battery and the motor auto cycled up and down and is now functioning normally. I wanted to post this as I am hoping someone else who does a google search for a similar issue will find this and save them hundreds if not a thousand dollars from taking the car to a Porsche dealer. The part number for the motor that I used to replace the current window motor was 997.624.182.06 replacing the original part that was 997.624.182.03
  4. Car: 2003 996 Cab. Symptom: The fuse for the front power windows and the fuse for the rear windows will blow instantly when a new fuse is inserted. History: The car was in winter storage and, though disconnected, the battery went 100% flat. I reconnected the battery and used a jump-start box and she fired right up after letting the battery pick up a little charge. But the windows rolled themselves all the way down and then (I guessing here) the fuses blew. When I replace a fuse, it blows even before I can get it all the way seated. Also, when I got the car home I removed the battery and put it on a slow charge, so the car was essentially without power for 2 days. I've scanned the car with a Foxwell NT-510 and there are no faults in any system. I don't have any idea where to start troubleshooting this. I don't know where to find a wiring diagram to begin knowing where to look. I'm handy with tools and comfortable with electricity, but this has me stumped. Any thoughts on where to begin?
  5. After doing some research, I cannot find a clear solution to this problem. I have a 1997 Boxster which has a problem with the window controls. If I remove the convertible top relay (double relay), both door windows operate as expected (proper drop when door is opened, auto drop when you press the window control, and full motion up and down). When I insert the top relay (even with the top latch closed), both windows drop the standard 3 inches and the driver’s window will only go down. Once the driver’s window goes all the way down, it will not go up until I remove the top relay. Any thoughts from the community? thanks, jason
  6. Hello, I'm a new boxter owner. While driving my interior lights come on over some bumps. I noticed that my window moves slightly up and down as well. Like locking/unlocking car. Sometimes remote will not lock car unless I open and close door a couple times. Does anyone know what part could be doing this? Need replaced or possibly a fix? Thank you!
  7. All of a sudden my passenger side door window will not go down all the way. It WAS working fine, no noise, and it drops a bit when I open the door and comes back up when I close the door...as it should. But all of a sudden will not go down all the way. Otherwise it works fine: Up and down, just it will only go down until it reaches the last inch or inch and a half, then stops as normal. The windows also work as they should when raising or lowering the top, but of course that pass-side window stops at the last inch or so. So, where should I look, and in what order?
  8. I'm having electrical issues with my 2000 Boxster S. My windows drop when the doors are opened, but they do not respond to the window controls. They do not come down when the Convertible top handle is pulled. The doors do not lock or unlock with the console button or the remote. I can only lock the driver door. The defrost button does not respond. I replaced the C3 and D1 fuses even though they looked and tested good. I'm getting 13 volts (when the car is on) at the C3 and D1 positions. I pulled the console and tested voltage to the switches and couldn't find any voltage between any two of the many wires going to each switch. I replaced the module under the driver seat with a new one from Suncoast Porsche and had my local dealer reprogram the new one from the old one's data. The only difference is that my convertible top started working soon after that. I read in other postings about SPDT relays that are just above the fuses, but I can't find any information about which relay would be affecting these components. Any ideas on next steps?
  9. The front drivers side window on my 2001 Carrera 4 Cabrio lowers about 1/3 of the way by its self when ever a raise it all the way up. Is this a micro switch, motor or a window regulator problem?
  10. Please help... Own my 2001 Carrara 996 for several years. Coming out of winter storage the Windows decided to roll themselves up every time I turn off the car. I am sure I have done something to create this situation, I just don't know what it is. All functions with, auto up, auto down etc. But when I turn the key off. They go to full up position with no movement of switches by me. Please help if you can.
  11. Hi I have a 2002 boxster 986 with a window drop problem . When open and shut passenger door window catches. When I use roof switch or window rocker switches window operates up and down however I can manually push the passenger window down about 1-2 inches by hand but can't budge the driver window . Also when I pull the roof lever both windows drop but by different amounts ? is this a regulator issue ? i would like some help before spending money out on parts
  12. Hi Guys I have recently acquired a 1990 944 convertible which has post acquisition developed a problem. The windows no longer drop that half inch when you open the doors to allow the glass to clear the roof. This worked perfectly when the car was acquired. I have had to change the battery and this is when the issue started. Both windows are affected. I have owned other convertibles so am familiar with the idea that there is usually a process to go through following a battery change to set the windows to drop when the door is opened. The only thing I could find online was to drop window and hold the window switch down for 10 seconds and then do the same after raising the window. No change other than this blew the switch. The only other thing I have done is change the window mechanism on the drivers side, but this was done after the fault occurred. I am now considering the micro switches, as these have been mentioned. Does anyone know how ton test them? Would both stop working together? Love the car, hate having to slam the doors. Anyone know what I need to do? Thank you
  13. Hello everyone this is my first post, please be gentle:) And here I am desperate after about a days worth of trying to figure out the problem Cayman 2007. Basically the story is: The car battery was empty, to the point it did not start. I called the dealer, they picked up the car and they changed the battery. When i got the car back, when the passenger door opens the door goes down 10cm but when the door is closed it doesnt go up again. I called the dealer they put the car on the diagnostic and they told me that the problem is probably a vary small part on the locking mechanism of the door but they can only change the whole mechanism, quote $600. I said thank you and left. I assumed its the door latch microswith. So i took the door appart, check the microswitch on the door latch, it was working, I gave it a good clean anyway and i put it back, problem pressist. I though maybe its a problem with the connection inside the latch? Anyone knows the pinout of the latch so I can check without dissasembling it? Maybe its the main door connector? Anyone knows the pinout there? Anyone has any other ideas in general? Thank you from the lovely island of Cyprus, Yiangos
  14. I sent my car to two separate shops a while ago to have some stuff looked at. When I got it back from the second place, the guy mentioned that the window wasn't rolling down when the door is opened. This hasn't occurred when I sent the car in so I have no idea what could have happened. Long story short, the window won't roll down when the door is opened, and when I do roll it down, I hear a strange crackling noise. It's as if a small pebble or something is grinding against the glass. Not a pretty sound. I've had this problem for a few months and haven't noticed any damage to the glass so I'm assuming it's not actually a pebble inside. Has anyone else experienced this and know how to fix it? It's a 1997 boxster.
  15. I've searched the forums, and I haven't found a similar issue... I have a 2004 Targa and the windows have been working great up until the last couple of weeks. Now when I have the passenger window down and I press the switch for it to go back up, it'll get about half way up, pause, and then put itself back down. After a couple of tries I can manage to get it to go all the way back up by holding the switch down. I've tried resetting the limits, but that didn't help. The driver's side window works great. Any ideas?
  16. Window in the passenger side of my 996 Carrera 2 MY 98 moves too slowly. It takes more than 6 secs to go down and more than 7 to go up. The window in the driver side is faster (little more that 5 secs) and with same speed up and down. Does anybody know how to determine if the culprit is the window regulator or the window motor? Thanks, Luis.
  17. When I lower the top, the passenger window goes down automatically, the drivers does not . It does go down if I click it. I held both switches in the up position for 10 seconds to calibrate them (from the Bentley book) Any suggestions? Thanks Jeff
