Use narrow putty knife to open up the top cover from each side.

Open your old key cover from side and take steel key unit off by release spring from the side tab.

Look for your 996 or 986 transponder under the core unit, it's a small glass part. It's very fragile, carefully release it from plastic body.

For 996 owners, you can skip this, for 986 owner will have to move one of two micro switch to unused middle location. (Red circle)

Carefully place in the microswitch to middle of the core and use narrow tip soldering iron with little or no solder.

Take original GT core unit out and place transponder glass to main body and place 996 or modified 986 core unit to main body as well.

Close the top cover to finish.
