Help..Groceries locked in the front trunk!

Recommended Posts

Hey folks...need some help pretty quick here. I have a 99 996 with the mechanical cable release for the trunk. Bought groceries last nite for the Super Bowl. Got home and the cable to the latch broke. Tried to access it thru the driver's side wheel well to pull on the cable and see if it would open the latch, and I found the cable but...the whole cable came out...so it broke off at the latch.

I've got all sorts of perishable groceries for the Super Bowl in the trunk and can't figure out how to get to the latch release. I tried looking thru the sidelight on the passenger's side...looking for some sort of cable release....can't see one in there. I found a small black ring in the front of the passenger's door frame and pulled on it...and broke the emergency release for the gas cover...so DONT pull on that ring very hard...it doesn't open the hood....now I have to fix that dogone thing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated....hopefull before the milk sours and meat goes bad. All the dealership fix-it shops are closed...If you can open it, you can have all the goodies!! :)

Wow.. that really sux. Only option you have is take it to the dealer and have them pop the hood with slim jim for hood.
