Service manuals versus TSBs

Recommended Posts

I understand why this forum refuses to post service manuals since they are copyrighted works by PCNA. But what I don't understand is why this forum posts TSBs, which are also copyrighted, and then charges fees to view those documents whose copyright is owned by another organization. Does Renntech split member fees with PCNA?

Donations (not fees) support this site. We reward those that donate with a number features that normal members don't get to use.

Contributing Members as said before can view TSBs online, they can use the Retail Price Search feature, and access the Contributors Members Only Forum. They can send attachments with PMs, image storage limits are raised for all Contributing Members, they can have their own RennTech.org email address and a their own personal Blog.

TSBs are view only here. You can view them but you are not allowed to print or copy them. No copyright violation there - it is the same as loaning someone a book to read.

Member fees? There are no member fees here - only member contributions to help cover the cost of operating this site. Operating costs include server leasing, software licenses (for the server) and bandwidth usage for this site.

This site does not make any profit - all donated funds are used to pay the yearly bills of running this site. Over the last 6 years only once have we had enough donated money to cover the costs - the rest of the time the money comes out of my pocket.

Less than 10% of the members here donate. Their generosity benefits all that use this site.

No one (especially me) is making any money here. That includes admins and moderators who all very willingly donate their time and knowledge to helping folks out here.

I hope that answers your questions...
