Can you tell me what this part is?

Recommended Posts

I recently had my car serviced, and the next day as I was getting out of the car, a small plastic disc fell onto the ground. It is identified as part number 997.555.577.00. Can you tell me where this part is supposed to go? I have looked about everywhere and I cannot find a hole that is missing this cover.

Thanks. But how did you get to the autoatlantic link you posted above?

Did you do a parts search and then page through the catalog?

Here's what I mean: I tried to get to the same page you posted above, so I went to the home page of autoatlantic/search/entered part # above.

The next page is only a listing of the part and the price. It doesn't take you to the page you posted which also includes the picture.

What steps did you take that lead you there?

That autoatlanta page is messed up for some reason, the image is correct, but the part listing is truncated for some reason.

I normally use PET, but autoatlanta is preferrable for some people because you can just thumb through the pages once you get familiar with where things are. Another good page to look at is www.dcautomotive.com. They also have parts diagrams.

My CDROM version of PET is too old now, and I haven't upgraded it, so I just use the PDFs that I have saved on my computer.

You can do a "find" in the PET PDF catalog for the part number, in your case "997 555 577 00" (without quotes) then the search results shows you the number to the left of the part number, in this case #19, then you go up a page or two until you see the picture and find the corresponding number.
