Retrofitting Wind Stop

Recommended Posts

  • Admin

The wind deflector in the 981 Boxster is electro-mechanical - not the fixed kind like the older Boxsters.

It does not showup in the Accessories/Addon list for that model so there is no guarantee that it will or and can be retrofitted.

Here is the image in the parts catalog (option I552) - it also shows a price of over $1100.

That be it - thanks.

Yeah, I know it doesn't show as an independent accessory. Fortunately, that doesn't look like too many parts. Hopefully the dealer's parts department can order the parts, and the service department can install it. However, the rear section might be a huge PITA to remove with the top in place.

It would be easier if A) It was just a standard feature, or B ) it was available as a standalone factory option without being wrapped-up in a silly package. Pretty much every other option is available a-la-carte. Why, or why isn't this one?

Thanks again for the info.

The wind stop is only available with the option packages. What are our options of retrofitting one if we do not order one of those packages?

Besides the original parts - already posted - you also can buy from other suppliers...

I leave you just a link - http://www.ur-windschott.de/index.html - please do an internet search, there are more choices, certainly... ;)

There are a lot of choices.  It just snaps in easily.  The main thing is put it in facing the right way.  First time I met mine, it was in backwards.

Look at the receiving part of plastic, look at the bottom of the wind blocker, it should be obvious which is front and which is back.

There are clear plastic ones, etc., but, the Porsche plastic parts I've ordered so far are priced pretty reasonably.

If the car doesn't have one, the receiving part will have to be installed.  That's a very good picture above.
