How to remove trim piece with hood/trunk latches

I need to remove this piece to get down the wiring support underneath to install my half cage. I have to trim the wiring support for the cage plate. How do I remove this trim piece that has the electric hood and engine cover openers? The passenger side was easy with a hidden screw under a small compartment. I popped off the two small hole covers on this piece expecting something underneath, but nothing there.

2010 997.2 GT3.

Thanks

1. Remove plastic caps 1 and loosen the fastening screws 2 of scuff plate 3.

2. Lift scuff plate 1 with a plastic wedge and pull up and off.

3. Check fixing clips 2 on the underside of the scuff plate 1, replacing if necessary.
4. Release plug connection for actuating switch and remove scuff plate.

I popped off cap #1 as I had seen a drawing showing bolt #2, but there is nothing but carpet behind the hole. I guess I need to pull the carpet down.

Thanks for the welcome. A friend told me about this site.
