Transfer Box Servo Motor Replacement

For the last week or so my truck has been giving me the 4wd error message and the 4 wheel symbol in the cluster.

I took it to the shop and they've diagno 624 60101sed the transfer box servo motor (part #955 624 601 01) is faulty and needs replacing.

This appears to be a rather expensive part but it looks like an easy DIY replacement.

My question is, does the car need to be reprogrammed or anything after this replacement is done?

Recently had the same diagnosed and subsequently replaced at OPC in Reading I will dig out the paperwork and see what they charged if that would help, from what I understand the servo sits on top of the transfer box, but they did not say how difficult it was to replace

I had the same issue recently.

Servo failed due to a fault that had developed in the control module.

Had the dealer change both the servo and transfer case control module.

There is a TSB recommending both be changed if year model is 2004 or earlier.

The servo motor and control unit have been updated since 2004.

No coding required when changing either part.

What he said. If you have a 2003 or 2004 it is recommended to replace both. The Servo motor is a fairly easy DIY. It is located on the right side of the transfer case on the back of the transmission. There are two plugs that go to the servo unit. Don't know if you can get Ebay.de stuff easy there but you can find Cayenne or Touareg units for fairly cheap (Touareg is the same as the Cayenne's). Just find one that is '05 or newer. Not positive but I think up until at least 2010 or 2011 model year.

I show a part code change at some point from part #955 624 601 00 to part #955 624 601 01

i'm assuming the newer code is the part to use.

Mine's a 2005 / 2006 car so I think I'll try just replcing the servo motor initially and see how I go from there.

Just by way of an update, I sourced a used part from a breakers in the UK and hand carried it back into Dubai last week

A friend and I then got down and dirty last weekend and changed the parts over.

With the exception of some very tightly located electrical conenctions and a slightly fiddly bolt it was an easy DIY

500km later, no warning lights and no recoding of any kind required.

A success, thanks all on this forum for the advice and assistance.
