So I'm trying to find out what improvements / changes have been made to original part no. 997.426.011.01, AS0 5, Serial no. 23234, dated 03.05.2006.  It's the shifter assembly for an automatic 2006 C4S Cab. 997.  I've been having a sticky shifter problem after periods of driving where the shifter is hard to move from P to D, etc...  As far as I could tell, 50/50 chance on replacing the shifter cable or this assembly and I chose the assembly as the dealer told me that there has been some modifications to the part since '06 and now I'm trying to find lout what the modifications / improvements have been.  Any Ideas???

 

Additionally, this did not solve my problem and now I'm going to have to replace the shifter cable  :cursing:  :cursing:  :cursing:

997 426 011 02 is part number that Porsche says to use for replacement.

In the earlier shifter housing I think sometime the magnets fell out and jammed the shifter.

Tks Loren. Is there any way to find out tech hours allowed for shifter replacement vs shifter cable job?

For the shifter Porsche list 100 TU or about 1 hour. If you have PCM add another 20 minutes.

Cable replacement is about 240 TU so about 4 hours.

 

Realize these book times are Porsche times based on a worst case tech (new never done it before). An experienced tech will often beat those times by as much as 50%.
