I finally did it.  I pulled the trigger and bought a Porsche.  My father has been a Porsche enthusiast since I can remember (I can still see the slant nose pictures he kept up in his office) so it was only natural I followed in his footsteps.  Excitedly, he told me about this forum and I immediately joined.

But alas, there are no 718 discussions, posts, or anything on this site.  I would like to change that.  So are there any other 718 owners?  I cannot be the only one.  Or else this topic will get lonely.

And for all wondering, I purchased a 718 Cayman S in Graphite Blue Metallic.  First Porsche, and it probably won't be the last.

Yes, I own a 718 Boxster with 300 hp, standard 6-speed transmission, and Sport Exhaust. My second Porsche. My first was a 2012 Base Boxster. The 718 is better in every way than the 2012, including exhaust sound!

I purchased a 2017 Boxster S 718 recently (Agate Grey exterior, Chauk (white) & black leather interior,  PDK, SC optioned,), and am quite pleased with my purchase.

I owned several Porsche cars in past, most notably and the fastest, being a 2002 996 911 TT with X50 package (notably, "In 2002 - an X50 option which included larger turbochargers and intercoolers along with revised engine control software became available from the factory, increasing power to 450 hp (336 kW")  as per Wikipedia-996).

BTW, In the interim, and before my current 718, I modded a WRX several years ago prior to their STI model introduction, spending about $15,000 then with ECU, exhaust, suspension...etc., enhancements which netted a 300-320 WHP per Dyno measurement by Vishnu Tuning (California) that did the actual modifications and tuning.

My current Boxster S 718 is more agile, and nimble and its mid-engine design means better balance, turn-in and handling than my earlier 911 TT...or WRX. Dare I say, that it is also almost as quick, and with nearly as much torque (my seat of the pants feel, if memory serves me correctly), as my former 2002 911 TT!

Drive your 718 car in Sport mode, or if mpg are less important to you, sport plus (+) mode.

I am shortly planning a Fabspeed Turboback supercup sport exhaust system upgrade with carbon fiber tips, mainly because of weight savings (-36 lbs.), purported 10 WHP and 13 ft.-lbs torque increments to be expected as performance upgrade, and secondarily, a more distinctly base note exhaust sound improvement...More to follow...

Enjoy your car! Drive it like you stole it (but legally)!

Took delivery of 2017 718 Cayman at the Porsche Experience Center (PEC), Atlanta in July.  My wife (this is her car) and I were treated as VIP by PEC Staff, we got a tour of the PEC, and received 90 minutes of track time using their 718 Cayman S.  PEC also treated us to a first class meal at the restaurant.  PEC made us feel very special and it was once in a life time experience.

Of course, 718 Cayman is a dream how it drives, how quickly 7 speed DSG shifts, and how responsive 2.0T engine is.  Everything in the Interior are well thought out and every controls are perfect.  We took 718 to road trip to Tampa, FL and Virginia Beach, VA from Montgomery, AL.  I can't believe how comfortable this is on the road.  Beats the heck out of Mercedes SLK280 which was stiff and not comfortable on a long trip.  We love everything about this Porsche.

I like Jayhants OP's wheels, but I chose 18" wheels to enjoy more meaty tires.  Only after-market thing, besides options, I added to this 718 is Ceramics tint and Valentine 1 radar detector hard wired to passenger side fuse box.

I plan to change oil & filter when it reaches 5,000 miles at on-base Auto Hobby Shop with a lift.  I will post some pics then.  I am trying to decide whether to buy a after-market ($12) or Porsche ($80) oil filter wrench.  If anyone has successfully used after-market one, let me know.

Since im gonna be 50 this year i bought this Little 718 S as a present for myself.

I included all the "important" things like SC, PDLS, PDK, PASM and some other tech stuff.

To go from an 986 S to this nearly scared med first :)

I dont have the Sport Exhaust and i dont miss it at all, just go to Sport mode and its noisy enough.

On the downside, i miss how smooth a 6 cylinder runs, and the cabin noise is not that good to.

But it dosent ruin the drive or the feel if you ask med.
