brake booster faulty smoke testing

Recommended Posts

Got the dreaded "brake booster fautly" dashboard message on the way home from work last night. I am going to check the usual pipes etc. but to make sure I get all the leaks, I would to do a smoke test.

A simple question, those who have done this or had it done, which pipe do you pump the smoke through?

While I am at it I would like to smoke test the rest of the vacuum system, again does anyone know where to plug the smoke into?

Edit: I have run the PIWIS and got P1431 code;

Brake booster system - signal implausible
Possible fault cause
♦ Leaks in brake booster system
♦ Vacuum pump worn out or mechanically faulty
♦ DME control module faulty
