2017 Macan 2.0L Base K&N Air Filter Install

Recommended Posts

2017 Macan 2.0L Base K&N Air Filter Install

The K&N Filter needed for this install is their P/N E-0660 only 1 is required on the Macan 2.0L base model The Air Filter housing cover is located on the front left of the engine bay (see the attached p/n dia and look for item 2) It is held to the air box it self with 4 star screws #20 loosen and lift the top cover (the screws are captive and wont fall off) Upon removing the cover you will see to the right middle top 2 more PLASTIC Keyed #20 screws/bolts (ITEM 6 IN DIAG). BE VERY CAREFUL HERE AS THEY ARE APPROX 3'' LONG AND HOLD ON THE SIDE PLATE FOR THE INTAKE PLASTIC DOWN TUBE (SEE DIAGRAM ITEM 5). These require you to use a soft turn 90 deg to 'unlock' the key on the end (you will see this when you slide them up and out) Next you must 'GENTLY' slide the right air box side panel up approx 1/2'' then separate the existing air filters LARGE circular opening from the side plates smaller flange plate that was held in by the 2 3" long plastic locking screw/bolts. With my vehicle being new these were tight and very secure. With a bit of gentle wiggling and pulling the air filter comes away from the side plate flange and the old air filter lifts up and out. The new K&N is an exact fit to the stock Porsche filter. PLEASE MAKE SURE WHEN YOU ARE FITTING THE NEW FILTER AND SIDE FLANGE PLATE TOGETHER YOU INSERT THE LARGE CIRCULAR OPENING INTO THE SIDE FLANGE PLATE ENTIRELY. Once you have the new filter and side flange plate attached you can place them into the larger right side plate and slide the entire assembly back down the right side rails on the air filter box. Make sure you align the side plate guides with the air filter box and gently push the assembly down until is seats in the bottom of the air filter box. Next you will need to re install the 2 3" plastic screw/bolts that are keyed. You will see the direction the 'key' must go when you slide them back in. You will need to apply some side pressure to the smaller side flange plate in order to align the top holes up. DON'T FORCE these plastic screw/bolts. Take your time and make sure they are seated properly. Once both are inserted twist them 90 deg to LOCK them in. Re install the top cover and put your K&N  STOP  'this is a reusable filter sticker" to the left of the Mobil 1 oil sticker on the front left side skirt just in front of the air filter cover assembly. Approx time start to finish 20 min subtracting the 10 mins I stared at the assembly so as to NOT break anything.  I hope this DiY helps anyone that adds a K&N to their 2017 or newer Base 2.0L Macan. Next up oil change! Regards, M2
