Hello,

 

I am owner of a 2004 Cayenne 3.2 V6i. Suddenly my ECU stopped working. I cannot start the engine anymore, have no check engine light (not even when I turn on ignition) and the coolant fan will start working. I tried an ECU from an other Cayenne and with that one I can start the car, but it will immediately stop working due to anti-theft regulation.

 

My questions:

1st) can I (or Porsche) program my cayenne so that the 2nd (used) ECU works with my Cayenne, or do I need to buy a new one?

2nd) is there a fuse or part that I should check first on the defective ECU?

 

Any help or hint is welcome!

Welcome to RennTech :welcomeani:

 

The DME and the CLU/immobilizer have to both be coded with a PIWIS in order to work together.  This is why swapping DME's does not work.  As you are going to have to tow the vehicle to a PIWIS equipped shop in any case, they should also be able to scan your original DME to find out what is up with it.  It may be a simple fix to get your original DME back online.

Thank you for your answer! That means the Porsche dealer with PIWIS should be able to to the coding. As they refused to do so...they wanted to sell me a new ECU.
