Mysterious Connector In Engine Compartment

It appears that the PO has done some electrical work on my 2003 C4S. Any idea what this connector might be for? I found it when I removed the air box and was looking at the wiring for the passenger side O2 sensors which were throwing a code. Looks like an amateur hack for sure and doesn't match Porsche style connectors. The wires go into the factory harness. Any help would be appreciated.

I wonder if its a connection to some sort of computer chip reprogramming device that doesn't work through the OBC port under the dash like a Durametric would.

Or, it could be the auto-deploy parachute braking activation for hard braking from over 175mph?

Interesting looking connection.  I think there likely will be some informed replies.  Cheers,

It looks like the connector for emission testing. It plugs into a holder next to the right engine mount (same holder for the bank 2 O2 sensor connectors). It doesn't connect to anything and you can just leave it alone in the holder.
