Just Traded 986 for 987 - Suggestions?

Recommended Posts

I just traded my 1999 Boxster with 5 speed manual and 120,000 miles in for a 2006 Boxster S, 6 speed manual with only 30,100 miles.  I LOVE IT!  The car feels and looks like BRAND NEW.  Even the interior looks as though it's never even been sat in.

So my questions are:
1) What should I know about the 987 vs the 986?

2) Any suggestions, considering she's only been driven 30,000 miles over the past 11 years?  I'm getting her professionally waxed tomorrow and getting her fluids changed right away as well. What else?

Oh, one other thing, she, Betty, has the thin, clear plastic film bra on the front.  This makes her nose a little dull.  Would you recommend having this removed and if so, replaced?

Thanks everyone!

Congrats!

986 and 987 are very similar. I biggest difference (IMHO) is the power in an S vs a normal Boxster.

With that few miles I would change the oil and filter, brake fluid, and at least view the condition of the transmission oil. Check the brake pads and tires for uneven wear.

Many of the better clear bra films can be cleaned with a mild pre-wax car cleaner (I like P21S) and then when wax is applied it will disappear again.

Good luck with your "new" car.
