The back 2 bolts..... for starters. These bolts are Torx head bolts and need a torx or "E" socket to remove.

The wiring harness under the seat is pretty straight forward to unplug

but DO NOT turn the car on with the seat removed and wiring harness disconnected. If you do, you will trigger an airbag fault that will need to be cleared by someone with a Porsche System Tester.

  • 1 month later...

I ran across this post and while installing my stereo system without the seat the guys must have truned on the key which did trigger the fault and now my airbag light is on. Question is if I do bring it to my local Porsche service will they charge me to clear this light? If so I will have the stereo shop bring it down and they can take care of it. Thanks for the help.

Do not even put the key in the ignition!!! If you have the radio code I would disconnect the battery. The dealers will sometimes turn off a seat belt light for free, it's about 15 minutes of work and you must remove the key and then start the engine all over again to get it out.

Don't even leave the key in the ignition while the seat connector is open. I believe that is enough to trigger the air-bag light.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I have to send my DME and Immobilizer to Florida ECU doctors, and found that a size 12 6-point torx bolt (the 4 that gold the seat in place) is an exact fit for a non-metric standard 3/8” socket! So no special tools to get that E-12 bolt out.
