My bone-stock 2007 997.1 C4S with 71k miles is my daily driver, and the last few days it has a big puff of blueish smoke upon engine startup which then clears in a few seconds. The smoke occurs in the morning (cold start) and also on warm restart. I searched on Google and found that these engines can burn a little oil etc, but strangely enough it hasn't done this for 11 years and 70k miles, so I am thinking something is wrong. Coolant is not low. Car maintained at the dealership, except for oil changes which I do myself every 5000 miles.

Also has P2187/2189, which it had before and I cleared it with Durametric thinking it's the gas cap. Maybe I am imagining it but the exhaust is a little more hoary than before.

Any ideas? Thanks guys.

Air Oil Separator (AOS) would be my first guess.

I would have to agree with Jager, I would start by hooking up a digital manometer to the oil fill cap and reading the crankcase vacuum, which should be no more than 5 inches of water.
