2009 Cayenne VR6, P0305 (# 5 Misfire)

2009 Cayenne 3.6L, VR6, 110,000 miles.  After driving about 5 miles from home, car started to run rough. I immediately returned home.  Scanner indicated P0305.  I pulled #5 ignition coil and switched it with the #1.  After clearing code, I drove car for about a mile with no problem.  I’ll get a new coil for a backup.  Any thoughts?  Can coils be intermittent?  I’ll add injector cleaner to fuel.

Yes, coil packs can be intermittent - they can crack and when temperatures or humidity changes they can short out.

If one coil is bad it is best to replace them all - especially on a car with that many miles.
