2003 996 seat height adjustment not working. Back seat adjustment works and forward backward manual adjustments work fine. Anyone experienced this and what might be the cause?

Yep! Do you have the memory type seats? Does the passenger seat exhibit the same problem?

My gut feeling it's the switch. IMHO, it's not the best engineered thing that Porsche created. Remove the front knob, but be extra CAREFUL not to lose the springs when removing the plate and knob. Test the switches and then report back.

The first thing to always check is for obstructs that may have been caught under the seat.

Next is fuses. Check them with an ohm meter individually out of the car.

After that you can check the switches - again with an ohm meter.

Worst case is a dead motor.
