2001 996tt durametric question

Hi 

Does anyone know what the attached pic does?  It was pushed by accident, bad mouse pad. 

‘PUMP MOTOR ACTIVATION ‘. Thanks in advance....

Question:

Also can you tell me what PSM -“ pump motor activation” does! See photo.

Hi Allan,
Thank you for writing. Unfortunately, we don't offer such details directly. The Durametric tool is intended to be used with the Porsche service manual or another reputable manual for your car. The options within Durametric are included in our tool because the Porsche factory tool includes these same functions. As such, all options are defined by Porsche, not Durametric. For the brake bleeding procedure and the proper use of the Pump Motor Activation, you will want to refer to your car's service manual.

Turns on the ABS/PSM pump so you can do a complete brake system flush. Used most often with switching from conventional brake fluid to synthetic or vice-versa.

Oh thanks....just so I understand, this is different from the “brake bleeding “ at the bottom. Also do you know where I can get a service manual and detailed instructions on brake bleeding on this 2001 996tt. 

Also one last thing...the switch “Start/Stop” was pushed by accident, about 3 seconds, did I do any damage?

If the system was not open to air, you did no harm.  This "switch" is there to get trapped air out of the PSM/ABS control network after repair work on the system has allowed air to become entrained in the system.  During normal bleeding/flushing operations, it is not used.

 

Unfortunately, the original service manual set of volumes is long out of print, but you may find a use one come up for sale from time to time.  Because these manuals are the copyrighted intellectual property of Porsche, we can not permit individuals to post, share, or sell digitalized copies of them on RennTech.

Thanks. I found a shop manual online.   Boy I wish the Durametric software could diagnose that 4266 fault.  I appreciate your quick response. Thanks again.
