987.2 Long Crank Before Finally Starting

Recommended Posts

2009 Boxster S with PDK. Engine will turn at normal speed to start but will take between 4-14 revolutions before it will fire.  Started after engine was a replaced at 23000 miles for scored pistons.  Slowly worsened to the point it would start but idle at 600 RPM, but not smoothly, and after 20 seconds run fine.  Once going it has always ran well until recently when it went directly from start to limp mode.  Have replaced HP Fuel pump, LP fuel pump and Battery.

Seemed to slowly worsen over 2 months after new engine, replaced the HP pump and it was better for a couple weeks but never firing right up, then worsened again.  Replaced LP fuel pump and worked great for a day, then started getting bad again.  Replaced battery and it reset out of limp mode, but still long crank.  Battery was sitting at 12 V with car off and 14 with on.  Now it sits off at 12.5 V.  It was 3.5 years old.
