Possessed fan motor help!

Recommended Posts

I've done some searching and can't seem to figure out what's causing the issue with the new to me 05 CTT.

The fan motor in my HVAC has a mind of own and I can't control it and it seems to progressively get worse over the last few days.

The fan ramps up and down on it's own, full blast back to where its set, in the middle... There's nothing consistent and then it'll work perfectly fine then randomly decide to start moving all over the place on it's own.

Any ideas on which components I should be looking at before I just start throwing parts at it?

If the system is set on automatic, this is normal behavior based upon what a sensor in the cab sees.

I've tried it in auto and manual settings, doesn't seem to make a difference.

Had a similar issue with my 05 CTT. I did a hvac system test with a Foxwell NT-510 Porsche. It returned a fan speed resister fault and fresh air servo fault. Changed both and all is good.

Interesting, I just bought a Durametric tool so maybe I'll see if I can see anything weird going on with that.

My guess is it's a sensor of some sort...

This is my first P car with computers, my 79 911SC takes about 2 min to diagnose any problem, I definitely prefer the days of manual systems lol.
