05 987 Homelink

Recommended Posts

Trying to update Homelink and it seems the LED is not lighting up at all. Is anyone familiar with these units not lighting up?

Im curious if it’s the buttons/LED part or the unit installed behind the bumper?  Also, does anyone know which fuse would be related to the Homelink?

Thanks in advance!

The buttons 1 to 3 can be programmed with a frequency of an original remote control.

Prerequisites for operating and programming the HomeLink:

– The ignition is switched on.
– The fog lights are switched off.

To activate the required equipment:
Press the relevant button 1, 2 or 3. The LED A lights up during signal transmission.

The control unit is behind the front bumper.

Assigning garage door opener/HomeLink signals to buttons

- Hold the two outer buttons 1 and 3 down for around 20 seconds until the LED A starts to flash quickly. All programmed signals for the buttons 1 to 3 are erased.

1. Press the required button until the LED flashes slowly. You then have around 5 minutes to complete steps 2 and 3.

2. Hold the original remote control approx. 0 - 30 cm in front of the marked position on the vehicle.

3. Press the Send button on the original remote control until the fog lights flash three times (up to approx. 45 seconds).
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 to assign further buttons.

The Homelink goes through the onboard computer (OBC) (no separate fuse). So, many other things would not work if the OBC was down.

Thanks!  This is consistent with homelinks site but more detail. If the picture is accurate I at least have an idea where to locate the control module. Looks like that is my next step in solving this problem.

The LED never lights up when going through the steps. I read another post where a guy replaces the control module and the LED worked afterwards. Hoping I have the same success. I think first I’ll try simply reseating the connector plug and see if that has any effect.

Does your car have seat heaters? If so, are they working? In my recently purchased Cayman S neither Homelink nor the seat heaters would light their LEDs.  Using Durametric I could cause the Homelink LEDs to light so I figured the unit on the roof worked.  I then searched and found that sometimes if the battery is disconnected, then your car will lose its awareness of having those options. Had to take it to an indy shop with PIWIS to do the "Handover" programming to get them to work again.  Just a thought.

Actually yes!  The seat heaters were on my list for the mechanic to reset. The previous owner had the battery replaced after letting it sit for a year. I had found the seat heaters were out for that reason but did not think to connect the garage door opener to the same issue.

Im gonna hold off on replacing the module until I can get the PIWIS update.

Than you!
