Have you eliminated these possibilities from the manual?

I know all sorts of things got funky on mine when it had a weak battery.

 

Page: 153

The Auto Start Stop function is available with limited functionality in the following situations, for example: 
– If the air conditioning or passenger compartment heating is operated at a high setting or if the defrost function is run for 
trans.giflong time periods.
– If the battery charging condition is low. 
– On upward or downward slopes. 
– During internal vehicle test procedures, e.g. automatic engine checks.

I know it can be annoying sometimes but I spend a lot of time at long red lights. 

 

@scanner-1 Have tried most of those listed in manual - only thing I can think of is my battery condition. 

 

Get the battery load tested, that is the "acid" test of its condition.  Takes about 5 min.
