I feel more comfortable having a fire extinguisher next to me, and I am surprised that it's not required in the US, unlike in some Europe nations. This DIY contains 3 different methods of attaching a fire extinguisher to the passenger seat of a non-motorized regular 996/Boxster seat. Other seats (e.g., motorized, GT3, sports, whatever) may be different. These seats come equiped with two tabs with holes to which you can attach a bracket that can hold an extinguisher. See the first picture. Ignore

Here is a picture of a factory installed fire

extinguisher in a 997 S. It looks

different then your halon picture.

Paul,

Do you know where to buy the factory fire extinguisher? My Porsche Dealer, Wilmington, DE, tell me these Porsche factory extingusihers are very very hard to find in the USA.

I bought the original 996 fire extinguisher brakcet and then bought the Gloria 1Kg F1 fire extinguisher which can be foudn and was the standard item for Porsche , looks good , the original fire extinguisher bracket for the 996 is all red and goes in teh drivers seat, a bit in the way but not a big deal. The Gloria F1 fire extinguisher comes with its own simple bracket also
