1999 911 996 C2 Cabriolet Top Side Flap Problem

Recommended Posts

My amazing 1999 C2 Cabriolet has developed a really slow passenger side flap issue. It has been slow on both sides for a while now. I have topped off the hydraulic fluid and lubricated both side flaps as per the instructions on this awesome forum and only the drivers side has perked up. It seems the passenger side flap is going at a snails pace. When wanting to open, the top is quick on opening, the drivers side flap rockets to the proper position and the passenger side one moves slowly for about 1/2 an inch, stops, goes again another 1/2 inch and stops, then goes, etc... This continues until it hits the switch and then the clamshell closes and completes the cycle. The cycle takes about 4 minutes to complete. Is this a new side flap motor for me and the porsche? I was looking at the side flap motor # 996 561 676 00 for a couple hundred bucks. If it is, how hard is it to install? If not I would really appreciate the help! Thank you!

Did you ever get a new flap? Did you do it yourself? My passenger side flap arrived earlier this week and i am planning on attempting to change it out tomorrow. Any advice/experience would be greatly appreciated.
