  3. Anybody have the instructions on changing the cabin filter in the trunk? It’s not clear to me how the carpeted side panel removes, and I fear breaking clips etc..
  4. Ok so I have looked at all the forums and can't find one that is relevant to my problem. I had a rear right window regulator break. The window was stuck 4 inches open. Then I started getting alarm problems where it wouldn't lock the car and activate. Then it progressed to the alarm horn going off when I started the car with no indicators flashing then the trunk lid and window won't open. The batt is good. The key batts are good. I'm wondering if the alarm module needs replacing or the rear right door is it. Any help is much appreciated.
  5. good day to a all I have a problem with my 3.2 2005 cayenne s the other day it was showing a generator/battery fault on the way home the engine just cut out and I coasted to a stop the AA came out and tried to jump start the car with no effect having got the car home I have changed the battery and the generator but the car will not start (no clicking of starter) upon closer inspection on the dashboard the transmission was showing as in drive but the leaver is in park so the car thinks it is in gear I read the fault code and the code P0864 TCM communication error I can clear the code but as soon as the ignition is turned off then back on the code is there and it shows as it is in drive does any one know if you can manually rest the tcm many thanks nicholas
  6. I have just bought a second hand Cayenne 2005 S. The steering wheel controls do not work at all, no lights or tiptronic and when I start up I get an airbag warning. I have checked all fuses in the drivers side and the passengers side - all are working that are in place (not sure if one is missing). Does anyone have any idea what to check or access to a diagram so I can start tracing the fault to see where to look. Thanks
  7. So I fire this thing up and get a massage saying take it to the dealer, so I buy a newer scanner and I have a C1 27 code.....Communication front control unit Now I cant find any other info on what this is, car runs fine and all systems are working, any clues guys
  8. According to the build sheet for my Cayenne it was fitted with a factory reversing camera, cut a long story short it doesn't work and I cannot see any evidence that its trying to work. Where are these factory fitted cameras located? The only place I can see it might be is under a flap just below the tailgate glass hatch lifting mechanism, am I right? I've never seen one of these camera's on all the Cayennes I've looked at, I assume it should show the image on the PCM screen but as I've said absolutely nothing is seen there.
  9. Bumping an old thread! Where is the headlight level control unit located? I'm having issues with my litronic headlights stuck in the most dipped down position and need to locate this to troubleshoot the wiring. Lights attempt to flick up during key on headlight switch on. Motors can be heard moving but beam level of headlight doesn't change. I get all the faults through Durametric for 1:Engine path left 2:Engine path right 3:Axle-position sensor front 4:Axle-position sensor rear Here is the picture of the headlight level control unit in question. Does anyone know where this is found? Please Help!
  10. I had that fixed a month ago. I pressurized the fuel line to the tanks and at about 20psi bubbles came up from one of the pumps. Thought I had my answer, but then when I continued to add more pressure bubbles came from the other pump. I turned the pressure in the direction of the fuel rail and it held. I need to figure where my pressure leak is coming from. Any ideas are appreciated

  12. Simple: It may not solve your problem. You need to find out where the fuel pressure is venting, say at an injector, and fix it before it causes more problems, like scored cylinders. Simply adding a check valve is a band aid; find the real problem and fix it.
  13. My cayenne is loosing fuel pressure when off. I have replaced both pumps and pressure regulator. I have ordered a new filter. What is the problem with installing a check valve on the fuel line? Seems like a simple fix. Any comments appreciated

  15. Okay.. Have some of the UV stuff coming today, but using my old endoscope to have a look around. Oil seems to be pooling to the rear and left (drivers side) of a grey circular thing behind the oil filler pipe in the center of the engine. See top left of the first picture. The second picture is a view below and to the left (drivers) of that grey thing. Other areas look clean dry but can't get to see behind the grey circular thing. I assume this is the AOS based on looking over parts diagrams. The oil filler pipe looks dry and clean where it connects so assume is fine until I get the UV stuff in.

  17. While the cylinders may be scored, I doubt bore scoring will trip the very specific intake valve lifter codes. It sucks that one cannot inspect the lifters without removing the cam cover, which involves a lot of labor. That's why the factory manual recommends replacing ALL the lifters (intake and exhaust) of the bank that is affected. The logic is if one lifter went bad, it's possible the others could follow since they wear similarly and are subject to the same operating conditions. If the mileage is high, it will also be a good opportunity to replace the timing chain pads.
  18. Great numbers. Spec is 0 degree +/- 6 degrees so yours are way within spec. You may want to read or re-read the two threads I mentioned before. They have identical symptoms and intake valve failure.
  19. Bore scoring? Cylinder 4 is textbook bore scoring victim for MY2003.
  20. Excellent. I'm not too familiar with those codes but per the DME 7.8 diagnostic info for 996 P1362 is intake valve of cylinder #4 does NOT switch to small lift i.e. stuck at large lift. That makes sense because at low rev, the intake valves should use small lift and they change to large lift at higher rev. That's how variocam+ works. You mentioned misfires occur only at low rpm. That's because the lifter #4 is stuck at high lift. P1371 is a general lifter code for any cyl #1-#6 do not switch to small lift. I think it's time to remove the bank 2 cam cover and inspect all the intake valves. BTW, can you check the "Cam deviation" readings of both banks? Are they solid and remain constant regardless of revs? This does not change the above but I am just curious about the general health of the engine.
