  2. I guess the problem could be with the microswitch which senses the key being turned to the lock position. I believe the convertible top will go up and the car will lock if the key is held in this position. It is odd that it happens randomly, and that the central locking button on the dash also won't work sometimes. I would have thought that a problem with the alarm control unit would more likely cause faults like that. Any dampness under the left hand seat (driver's side in the US)? That's where the alarm unit is located.

  4. The labor involved in just replacing the window is a bit more than replacing the whole top because in both cases the old top must be removed. Plus you can't fit a glass window that is the same size as the plastic. I would replace the top with a Gahh A-5 German canvas top (OEM). You can chose between plastic or glass(more money) for the window . I went for the plastic window because it looks more like the lines of the coupe. The glass window is significantly smaller. It's a personal choice.
  5. I emailed harveypnp@comcast.net It bounced back might anyone know where to get a oem looking set of scuff plates like he had made I would like to find a set.
  6. Hi, anybody replaced the coolant vent line (987 106 681 01) in a 987.1 2.7 boxster and has some tips? Mine has been holed by contact with the variocam cover plate (i think), red arrow in picture shows line and location of hole. Maybe i'm being pessimistic but looks like to wriggle it out/in would need to remove main coolant hoses at the front of engine, engine mount, suspension brace, possibly also rusty exhaust. I tried an in-situ fix with epoxy which failed. May also try replacing damaged section with flexible hose. Car is on jack stands. Thanks, Mark
  7. I have HAES speaker for doors and want to upgrade it. Is the oem Bose speaker better than oem HAES speaker?
  8. The fix ended up being a missing 5a fuse for the TIPTRONIC on the right fuse panel(52). My question is how was the magnetic lock working before????
  9. The battery was dead this morning and now the radio is as the car was.. I need help with the radiocode thanks. Porsche CDR-220 Type:4462 Serial:Y5053657 46/00
  10. Job is almost finished. While i was in there i pulled my battery tray and sanded it then i painted it. Rust is not good. Few questions, i noticed another blend door that was not accessible. I tried to put some tape on it. Ideas anyone? I cut off the top pivot point on the blend door i removed. What did you guys do to cover this part. I will try to finish up tomorrow and test this fix. 1999, 996.
  11. Well thats what I was thinking. Purchased a different one anyway. thanks v
  12. This little how-to helped me a lot: https://www.renntech.org/tutorials/article/19-how-to-service-the-buttons-lcd-in-a-becker-cdr-220
  13. Code worked. Donation made as a token of appreciation. Thanks again
  14. I am working thru this problem also. I have the top work done, getting ready to do the servo arm. So far so good. Checking in from south east Texas btw.
  15. Yesterday
  16. Trying to replace some vacuum hoses under the passenger side intake manifold. Is there a DIY any where? I’m taking off the driver side first. Would I need to remove the AC condenser and/or AC lines/hoses first or can I just leave them as is? And how do you remove the power steering tank? I read somewhere that it just twists off at the pipe?
  17. I am fighting what I think is a microswitch problem, my 1999 996 Cab C4 closes the windows, raises the top and locks itself randomly when parked. I have not been able to figure out what causes this. The car locks and unlocks with the key just fine. The windows also drop when the door is opened as they should. However, at times, the central locking switch on the dash will not work. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
  18. Exact model and year of the car, please.
  19. I have been restoring a 2005 Boxster that suffered water ingress to the cabin. Most of the roof and rear module stuff is now fixed. However, there were a few persistent convertible top DMLs in the Gateway module that I was trying to clear with my PIWIS II tool. I think I managed to erase the programming of the Gateway instead of the fault codes. Now the instrument cluster is dead, the spoiler is always extended and the cooling fans are running at full speed whenever the ignition is on. I tried to reprogram the Gateway using either the Automatic or Manual programming modes, but both give the following error: No relevant programming rules found. Cause: Part Number of GATEWAY control module is not available in programming rules. Does anyone know how to fix this?
  20. I just picked up my first 911 after years of waiting and the battery goes dead and I didn't have the code ( I have now). But the preset buttons from 6-0 don"t seem to work, 1-5 work fine. Ant help you can provide would be great. Thanks
  21. Oh heck, I've said it privately and I'll now say it publicly, JFP has done more IMS swaps than any of you combined. He has to pay in reputation and/or dollars if any of his work fails. He has a vested interest in doing it right the first time. He has no financial connection to LN. He chooses parts for their reliability and their ability to not cost him time, money and reputation. Because if it fails, it costs him in all three areas. How do I know all this? Well I've been following this issue for at least 12 years to back before any Flat6/LN product was publicly available. I know how many engines they blew up testing. And since LN was the first vendor to produce a kit and the first to produce instructions and tools for something Porsche said couldn't be done, I got interested and was talking back in the day pretty regularly to Jake, emailing to Jake and Charles. How many bearing materials did they use? How many versions of the races? You buy today you aren't getting their first version of either the bearing, the accessories, the instructions or the tools. You'd be buying well beyond the 10 thousandth one they sold. It is your car, your money, your choice. He will probably delete this but if it saves someone from going off in a wrong direction...
  22. My front right radiator has started running most of the time. Temp gauge reading is normal.Do you have any suggestions for the cause?
  23. E-bay Porsche trim clips, I just bought an assorted box of them. Cheap enough, remember Porsche don't make them, they probably buy them from E-bay too 😉
  24. No. If the code I gave you did not work then chances are that your radio was repaired by someone other than Becker. If that is the case then I can not help you... sorry.
