PST2, PIWIS & Durametric Tool Registry

Recommended Posts

On another forum we have a thread like this,

People who own a PST2 & Durametric tool and wouldn't mind helping fellow p-car owners in your area that are in need of PST2 & Durametric tool diagnosis, Please Post here the city of your location and which device you have and weather not you'd be willing to plug your tools into a local fellow p-car owners porsche.

Currently Im looking for someone in the Los Angeles or Orange County area with either device to diagnose and clear the code for my airbag light.'

Hopefully we have many people here willing to help others in there neck of the woods.

That is a good idea. :D
A small problem is that recently Duarametric put a three car limit on the their standard software (Enthusiast Package). Their "Professional Kit" version is still unlimited. So only folks with the Professional version should offer to run the Durametric Software on other's cars.

I have a PST2, PIWIS, Durametric Software, and Car Code OBD-2 software. I now have access to PIWIS 2 also.
I am in Roseville California (near Sacramento).

We will likely start a "Work on Cars Day" in our area soon - similar to what Jeff (Tool Pants) and I did in the San Francisco Bay area.

I moved this thread to the Diagnostics, Tips and Tools Forum and pinned it at the top.
Please feel free to add to this thread of have have one of these tools and are willing to help your fellow Porsche enthusiasts!

I've got a Durametric, and since I only have one Boxster, the first two people to ask for help in or around Anchorage, AK will get it.

PM me here, or ask around on PPBB, Rennlist, or 986Forum.

Hi CJ,

I used to be a Porsche Tech not to long ago, I am a certified Master tech and smog tech. Now I work for a company developing european scan tools.

I am a technical guy, I love diagnostics. I can help you if youd like, our diag tool not only does porsche but all other euro cars too.

The durametric in my technical opinion is only good for code look up and erasure, but for real diagnosis its a joke.

I live in the South Bay area of L.A.

Please re-read the board rules and guidelines that you agreed to when you registered here. Commercial posts are not allowed nor is flaming individuals or companies.

If you did not work for competing company your comments would be just "your opinion" - being that you do work for a competing company it is a flame and will not be tolerated in the future.

If you believe your company makes a better tool then by all means tell us what it can do. Better yet send an evaluation to one of our staff to be reviewed and evaluated.

This particular thread is intended to be a Registry of folks willing to help others (for free) with the diagnostic tool(s) that they have whether it be PST2, PIWIS, or Durametric Software. In the future if you wish to discuss a new or different tool - please start a new thread. Thank you.

So I take it that you are part of the Staff. Or a senior Renntech member. I have noticed that you have written very highly of the other scan tool. Any how I am not trying to sell a scan tool to porsche aficionados. I would like to offer my help to any one in the L.A. area with any type of Diagnostics since I am a Porsche Certified Tech / A.S.E. Certified Master Tech as well. I miss troubleshooting and would just like to help for free. I dont own porsche, but I love to fix hard engine performance and electrical problems.

Yes, I am staff here (I started and own this board).

The reason I can speak highly of the Durametric tool is that they sent it to us to test and fixed problems that we saw and added features that we wanted.

I own a PST2 so I do not have to use the Durametric software - I do think it is a good DIY level tool.

We have many members that are techs now or have ventured out to start their own shops - so you are not alone here.

Most independent shops that I know of buy the best tool(s) they can afford for some that is an $18,000 PIWIS, for others that is a $3600 used PST2, and for yet others it is the $700 Durametric Pro kit.

Some people have said that the 3 car limit is not in the software. If you get the enthusiast version there is something in the cable that limits it to 3 cars, while the pro version is not limited as it has a different cable. This 3 car limit is something new. I don't remember a limit when it first came out as there was only one version.

I have a PIWIS, PST2, Durametric Software, and Car Code OBD-2 software.

I am in Roseville California (near Sacramento).

Hello Loren,

So you now have the Piwis, it is very hard to get from Porsche unless you are a factory Dealer or a Real Auto Repair shop with to many strings attached.

I have seen a Bootleg version of it, but a word to the wise, the Fed,s are starting to look at shops or individuals with counterfit Factory Electronic

equipment. Ask me how I know.

All types of Counterfeit products in the U.S. are illegal and ruin or economy, dont you think so. There are shops in the L.A. area that have had there counterfeit scan tools confiscated lately.
