Engine Knock

Hi.

This is my first posting, so hello to everyone.

I have an 02tt with 7000 miles on the clock which developed a knock from inside the crankcase at idle but

disappeared under load. It's now in the process of having an engine rebuild at the OPC Colchester (UK)

to have a worn intermediate shaft and woodruff key replaced(at no cost to me). The service manager said

he had seen it before,just wondered if anyone out there has come accross it.

This is often a big end con rod bearing with excessive clearance. Could also be a lifter that is bleeding off with low oil pressure.

I am having this same problem on my 2002TT x50. Car has only 16k miles! It is out of warranty. Price is $11k. I was told by porsche we have a no good will policy in place! WTF. How can a car with low miles, well taken care of have a issue like this! I wish porsche would do something even just parts or labor something! This will probably be the last porsche I buy!
