  1. MY99 was the first US year for the 996 . It should not be a problem if it has had the service bulletin fixes. Any Porsche dealer can check (for free) using the cars VIN. Also, look on the door for the build date (not delivery - build). Late MY99 cars had most of the minor problems fixed at the factory. So, if your car is May or June 1999 then many service bulletin fixes have likely been done. I own a June build MY99 and I have had very few problems...

  2. If you have access to a computer that can trigger the ABS valves then you will get a slightly better bleed job (IMHO). Normally the ABS valves only open when they need to. So, even a pressure bleeder will not get all the old fluid out - not a big deal though as we are only talking a few cc.

Hi, Loren.  Is that from a U.S. dealer or Carnewel?  I'd rather try to buy one from a closer vender.  A large piece of metal can only cost a hundred bucks or so and then cost several hundred dollars in freight from a foriegn country.  I ship stuff to Hawaii all the time from Japan, P.I., Indonesia and other S.P. spots and you wouldn't believe the freight, customs, etc...

    My quote above is retail from a US dealer. With a PCA discount or from the Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost link above you can likely get it cheaper.

    Thanks - I have a lot folks (and manuals) around me with lots of help.

    P0102 is consistent with an open circuit or short to ground with the signal from the mass air flow sensor (MAF).

    5525 is a Porsche only code that says it is getting inconsistent readings from the DME as to engine load.

    msindi is likely right that it is something your tuner has done in the chipping. A simple test would be to revert back to a standard DME and see if the faults stay gone.
