  1. I just got back from the dealer and now have two fully functioning, brand new keys/remotes.

    Total cost:

$125 to program both keys (and cut one key blade)

    $47 for new remote only

    $91 For compete key/remote

Total $263 for two new keys/remotes programmed.

I'm cool with that. They waived the $45.00 charge to cut the new key blade for the complete key/remote

So based on your estimate, it would cost me ~$92 to replace/program my keyfob and keep the blade?

They get you for the $125 if it is programing 1 key or 2. So figure around $47.00 for the remote and $125 for programing. Just call and ask them. Maybe they will charge you 1/2 hour labor.

  3. Hello all. The key fob that came with my new to me 2004 Cayenne S will not unlock the doors, but will pop the rear glass (Switchblade style key). So I called the dealers for the prices on the key/fobs.... Man- some dealers are clueless. Some quoted me $240+ Programing...... for a single key. Then told me I could not order "just" the remote.

So with some help of my friend, we found what the dealer could not find.

I like proving people wrong so here is the info:

    Remote only p/n 000-043-207-19 (I paid right around $47.00)

Complete Key (blank that needs to be cut-Dealer can do it) and remote p/n 955-637-244-04-01C ($91.00 Sunset Porsche)

So tomorrow I am going to the dealer to have them all programed to my car with their computer.... They wanted me to spend $480 + Programing... LOL

Now the question on the Immobilizer. If I remove the key blade from my old key and attach it to the new remote only:

Can I started the car if I hold the original worn out fob (with correct "Pill") as I turn the new remote/key in the ignition?

Or does the immobilizer need to contact the metal of the key blade to activate the correct programed "pill"?

    I hope that makes sense.

  4. Its a very easy job. All you do is remove the airfilter housing (1 bolt) and unscrew the hose clamp on throttle body. Drain coolant from tank out from the motor bolt on bottom of engine. Just the coolant from the tank, not the whole system. Then remove the 3 bolts that hold the air pump on and move it out of the way (zip ties worked well) then undo all the coolant lines going into the tank. Remove the 2 fuel line connections 17mm and 19mm. Then the fun part of maneuvering the tank out. Do not forget to unplug the sender wire on the bottom of the tank.

The new tank was a bit harder to maneuver in. With a little force it will go in.

It's a joke the dealer charges $600 for that change. It is as easy as an oil change.

Next step is to take the car to a do it yourself car wash and spray all that crap off the tailpipes and underside.

  5. It was the immobilizer that took a crap with only 33K miles on the clock. The shop says they have replaced 3 others. They hooked it up to the computer and it didn't even recognize the immobilizer. There goes $300 to $400 on a crappy Porsche part that will fail again in the next few years. Not to mention the pain in dealing with Porsche to get the new codes for the new immobilizer.

  6. :help: Any ideas from the group? Battery is fine with 12 volts, I get all lights when key is turned, I can hear the clutch switch clicking when I depress the clutch. I changed the ignition switch in Sept. I tried both keys and it would not start (thinking low battery's in the key for alarm) Can any of you think of anything else I am forgetting or should try???

    Thanks in advance.

  7. Thanks Kevin. Let me remove mine to see if I will need a new one. Can you reuse those plastic rivits or do i need to order more? It was more of verticle hit on that spoiler lip and not a drag or rub. I was driving fast down an alley (kinda gangsta when you think about it) Then saw a HUGE dip, hit the brakes, the lip went crunch and flaked the paint all over on the passenger side of the lip. Sniff...Sniff..

Moral of the story: Never drive fast down alley's like in the movies.

  8. My 1999 Speed Yellow Aerokit coupe needs a little tlc. The odometers reads 29,832......Time for the 30k. Correct me if I am wrong, but the 30K is only an oil and filter (pollen) change correct? I was planning on doing this myself because it is easy.

Is the 45K service the spark plug change??

I already ordered the oil wrench tool and printed the directions.

  9. Robyn- I really do not think you will like those bypass pipes... You will end up removing them in under a week. I know of a few guys that changed to them and them went back to the PSE. WAY TO LOUD. Just imagine the nasty loudness of a honda with a coffee can exhaust and multiply it by 5. I would really save your money. These were not for everyday driving. Only Turbos can get away with them because the turbos will muffle the noise.

But if you like making your neighbors mad or want to draw even more attention to your Speed Yellow car then get it. Every rice burner car will want to race you even more.

    You been warned :)
