  1. Hi guys! Recently bought a 2001 911 C2. Radio has no power... nothing... pressing all the buttons does nothing at all. I pulled the radio and replaced the 10amp fuse in the back (couldn't tell if the old one was blown or not because the metal fuse part is not visible in the old fuse.) Radio fuse in the kick panel in the driver's side footwell is fine. Still no power. Any ideas? Maybe the headunit is shot?? Thanks!
  2. On your car, they are accessible from above with the engine still in the car, but there is a lot of stuff in the way, like the power steering reservoir, parts of the intake, and the AC compressor, which have to be removed to get at them. If you have access to the Bentley manual for your car, they show a multipage how-to with color photos to walk you through the process. While time consuming, the job is not overly difficult and only requires basic tools to accomplish. Thanks. Unfortunately, I don't have access to any useful how-to's and searching online isn't yielding much. Any how-to's or photos of what I am looking for?? From what I read, there's one on the left side toward the front and another on the right side toward the rear.
  3. Is the camshaft position sensor accessible without a lift and without removing the engine. Best to get at it from underneath or above? (This is for a 2001 C2). Thanks!
  4. Hi guys. Brand new 911 owner here (2001 C2 - 180k, but motor was rebuild 30k ago). Drove the car literally 2 miles after buying it until the CEL came on. Got it read at Autozone tonight and got p1341 which I've found on here to be the camshaft adjustment bank 1, but I'm also seeing people say that it could be something rather simple (ie sensor, bad connection). I'd like to start with the wiring harness bad connection option (cheap and easy), but I don't know 911 engines very well. Can someone tell me which connector I'm looking for and where it's at? Maybe a photo? Is the sensor what the wire plugs into? Am I looking for the camshaft timing advance solonoid? Or the camshaft position sensor? Or something else? The car seems to run absolutely fine. Idle's fine, powers up fine... Any help is MUCH appreciated! I'm reading some of these forums seeing $6K+ repairs and my mind is swimming a bit... : /
  5. Brand new 911 owner here. It looks like my car's PO removed the "snorkel" or air scoop that brings air from the spoiler into the airbox. Any issue with that? Seems to me you'd be pulling hot air into the engine instead of cooler air from outside. I see that some Boxster owners do that, but can't seem to find if 996 owners do that. Is it ok as is? Or should I get a scoop off of Ebay to replace it?
  6. 180k on my 2001 coupe... motor was rebuilt at 150k though.
  7. Hey guys! Brand new 911 owner here (ie less than 1 day!). Pretty darn excited as this has been a long-time dream of mine. I got a 2001 996 Carrera coupe for a really good price (I think). Not perfect (a few scratches and road rash on the wheels) and it has high miles, but hey, it's mine!! :) Question: On the dash near the VIN is a little plate that says "Porsche Design Edition 1 - Limited Edition #018/777". Is this a legit thing or maybe just stuck on there by the PO to look cool?? What does it mean? I tried to look it up but am only finding stuff about Caymans and Boxsters... Thanks!
