  1. Can the axle nut be removed with a air tool instead of a breaker bar?
  2. Can the outer boot be replaced on the rear axle without breaking loose the axle nut? I am going to replace both boots, RMS, and clutch.
  3. Great photo. Thanks for the help. I am trying to muster enough guts to tackle this.
  4. I have a 2001 Boxster with 138,000 miles. I recently started dropping a 3" oil spot after the engine cools. The leak is dead center right at the tranny engine area. It appears to be seping from a small bolt hole(Pictured). Is this the RMS? Should I discontinue driving the car or no big deal for a while? I will be needing a clutch soon. Any other items need attending? DIY? I am confortable with most Boxster repairs. Water pump, AOS, Starter etc.. Sorry. I forgot the Pic.
  5. Check and see if the pump itself is leaking down to the therostat area.
  6. Does anyone know of a way to bypass the use of the wear sensors. Buying $60.00 worth of sensors everytime I replace pads is getting old. Can I connect the wires together coming out of the connector to make a complete circuit?
  7. I am trying to swap the Passenger and Driver Seat Heater relay. I am trying to do the swap by tilting the seats back. I am having difficulty removing the plastic rivet that holds the relay to the seat frame. Any Ideas?
  8. sb01box, Sorry for the delay. I had intermittent ODB codes. I took it to a muffler shop and they said the Cats were completely sealed off.
  9. The sound improved a little. It is a little more throatier sounding. I plan on replacing the muffler next, and this should also help.
  10. I had my Catalytic converter fail after 125,000 miles. I looked everywhere for a reasonable replacement. I called the dealer and the cost to replace was about 4K. I found Maxspeed Motorsports in Canada. They manufacture a custom bolt on header with Cats. There replacements are bolt on and they removed both secondary cats from the system, and are ODBII compliant. I installed them 9 months ago and enjoy the throatier exhaust note and a slight increase in performance. They were about $1000.00. They also sell the secondary pipes to extend back to the Muffler. http://www.maxspeed-motorsports.com/nhp986headers.html
  11. It is time to replace my Catalytic Converters. I do not wish to spend 2500.00 dollars for the parts from Porsche. I found a Cat from Benchmark for about 250.00 dollars. Does anyone have experience with these? Any other advice?
  12. Sounds like a bad soleniod motor. There is a small motor below the rear trunk latch. i had to replace mine recently. Open the trunk and remove the rear material below the latch and you will see the latch motor. With the lid open hit the release and see if you can hear it puling.
  13. Have you sprayed the MAF with cleaner?
  14. 100K today! I purchased my 2001 Arctic Silver Boxster used 4 years ago with 56K on it from a small use car dealership. I had been eyeing the car for about three months before I decided to go drive it. Needless to say, I was blown away at how fun the car was. Since then, I have performed many labor of love tasks to keep it running. These tasks include a generator, belts, AOS, MAF, Brakes and rotors, Fuel filter, Glass rear window replacement top, and lubrication for both the tranny and crankcase. All this would not be possible without the help from an amazing forum Renntech! Hopefully I can get another 100K out of her.
  15. I have been using the Azrinc short shfter from ebay for two years. It works great. It is also a little notchy. You will have to reverse the handle for the lean. It is easy, just remove the bolt, twist 180 degrees and reinstall the bolt. They ship this way so they don't get sued for knock off.
  16. Here is a website for DIY. http://www.bombaydigital.com/boxster/proje.../change_rotors/ I completed the pad and rotor replacement two weeks ago and it was not bad at all. Sunset imports has good pricing for all your parts. I also bought a pump for the reservoir and the few tools needed. On a scale of 1-5 this job was a 2.5
  17. I did use the black paint. They do look alot better. Thanks for the post.
  18. They are the vent grills. Do you know how to remove the bumper cover?
  19. How do you remove the two black air dams on the front bumper? Mine are really faded and need a paint job or replacement.
  20. I need to remove and bend the metal rotor shield that is directly behind the rotor. When I turn the vehicle hard left or right the shield is rubbing the rotor. It cannot be bent enough without removing it. Can anyone tell me how to remove it?
  21. I need increase the space between the pad guides to squeeze in the new rotor. it looks like there a four pins that secure the round pad guides. Does anyone know how to loosen and spread the guides? In the picture you can see the guides with the pads removed.
  22. I need to replace the rotors on my 2001 Boxster with 90k on it. I have seen zinc plated slotted rotors on Ebay for the front and rear going for $220.00 Does anyone have any experience using them?
  23. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=7062 Thanks for the link. The replacement went well.
  24. Anyone have a how to on the fuel filter replacement on a 2001 Boxster. I have the center underbody cover off and can see the filter, but it looks impossible to pull down through the tubing surrounding it.
  25. I had a check engine light for a couple weeks and then went out. The Boxster started blowing smoke from the exhaust and running rough. I replaced the AOS and the engine is now smooth and smokeless. My check engine light is now on again and is showing codes: P1128 Current P1132 Pending P1125 Pending P1130 Pending Any Ideas what to look for?
