  1. It always helps to have the year and model of the car. If the clutch slips at all, it is not normal behavior. Does your clutch pedal seem high and unusually stiff? 2004 911 C4S No, clutch seems normal to me.
  2. The reflector didn't seem to be an issue as the turbo deck lid has the same shape. When the turbo deck lid sits on the car, the mounting points for the deck lid hinges are not the same. Also the turbo deck lid is longer by about 1-2". Basically, the shape is fine, but the deck lid hangs off the back of the car too far! I should also add... There are multiple part numbers for the deck lid. Can anyone chime in if the kids are actually different sizes for different model year 996 turbo's. I don't know the difference from one to another.
  3. If I shift fast from first to second, the clutch slips. I'm shifting the same as I have in any other car. If I shift and delay hitting the gas, it doesn't slip. If I pop the clutch going into second and hit the gas, it won't slip. I just can't shift with both feet and finding the engagement point as normal, hit the gas hard and release the clutch. What's up? All cars have quirks about them. Not sure if this is one of them. There is no indication of a problem in any other gear and first gear launches perfectly.

  5. Well, I did track the C4S once recently. Lots of fun.... Not sure how often I will do that, but I would imagine I would do it again. I have no interest other than DE events. I don't plan on being a race car driver or putting a 5 point harness in my car someday. I did see Boxster's there, so it must not be a no convertible rule. I still can't make up my mind! I also have been hung up on speed yellow. Do I get picky and wait for another Speed Yellow TT, or just buy the best car I find despite the color. Hmmmmmm
  6. I had a boxster S and now I have a 996 C4S hardtop. I can't believe I miss the convertible top! I'm thinking of selling the C4S and getting a 996 TT, just because. I'm torn on doing a cab or hardtop TT. I feel like the boxster looks better than the 911 as a convertible and the 911 looks more bad a$$ as a hardtop. I'm also concerned that resale of a cab would have less interest and fetch less money on resale. Thoughts?
  7. I bought a turbo deck lid based on this thread. I spent tons of time painting the deck lid and wing to match my car, speed yellow. I went to install the deck lid and it doesn't fit! I didn't pre-fit the deck lid as this thread made it sound like the deck lid fits perfectly, beyond the modifications under the hood. So.... What's the deal? I have a 2004 C4S coupe. Is the cab different than a coupe?
  8. I think it's somewhat relative. I just bought a 2004 C4S speed yellow with 26k miles for $38,400. I wasn't thrilled about the price, but the car was flawless and the miles were low. I thought- I can look forever and maybe find another car cheaper, or just save the energy and buy this one. Nonetheless, sellers were asking between $35-$40k with similar miles, so maybe it's about right. You can always look at KBB for a value as well.
  9. I replaced the switch, electrical portion on the back of the cylinder. I couldn't get my key out when turning the car off. It was easy and it turns out, VW made the identical switch for less. I ordered it for about $30 from the local VW dealer. Not sure if your problem is identical.... But, I didn't remove anything, I left it all in place and removed only the switch while working under the dash.
