  1. Also, I am using the Ravenol to flush the unit until the next regular oil change when I plan to put the Porsche factory in. If you use the Ravenol it has a nice built in hose system that works perfectly. 26237bae4c7caf5179f311b135faa913.jpg

    Mine was not having bad symptoms, but better safe than sorry. Plus I thought I noticed something when really getting on it, but might have been my imagination. Either way a quick preventative maintenance and man it was dark. f40193d51fa8d5304683c8dbad526040.jpg

    I'd love to have gotten a wear indicator reading on your old oil. I can read this with the iCarScan, and the factory service manual gives a maximum value.
     
    This is what the manual says:
     
    WM 0335IN DIAGNOSTIC MAINTENANCE: RESETTING DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM AND
    SERVICE INTERVAL (CAYENNE, CAYENNE S, CAYENNE S E-HYBRID, CAYENNE
    TURBO, CAYENNE (3.0), CAYENNE GTS & CAYENNE TURBO S) > RESETTING
    SERVICE INTERVAL > READING OUT TRANSFER GEAR WEAR INTEGRATOR

    The transmission wear integrator oil must be checked during every intermediate
    maintenance/maintenance.
    1. Start PIWIS Tester II 9818 and follow the instructions on the Tester.
    2. Select the vehicle type and start the PIDT.
    3. Select the All-wheel menu.
    4. Select the Actual values, input signals menu.
    5. Select the T_wear integrators menu. Press [F12] to continue.
    6. Read out the value for V40 transmission wear integrator - oil .
        If this value is greater than 145 kWh , the oil in the transfer gear must be changed →
        Changing oil for transfer gear. If the value is lower, no further action is required.
    7. If the oil in the transfer gear has been changed, the value must be deleted and reset to zero by
    pressing [F8]
     
    FWIW - I have no idea why this measurement is in kiloWatt hours (kWh) - http://www.energylens.com/articles/kw-and-kwh since that's a measurement of energy

    I have the icarscan tool and want to do this as well before I change it, just to see the value. Did you drive it to heat up the oil first or does that matter since it is likely a stored value from the prior trip within certain parameters? Any other tips in using the icarscan tool or should it be straight forward?
  3. Thanks for the insight on the vent. I always check Pelican Parts when looking for an oem equivalent as they tend to indicate the brand that makes the Porsche brand. In this case they have the Porsche branded at much cheaper at $51.75. They also have two alternatives but neither seem to be the maker of the oem fluid, but at $15.75 and $33.25 a liter it might be worth checking out.

    That being said I have not used either but Pelican can likely talk through it with you. Maybe someone here has used either Shell or Fuchs.

  4. Is it possible to add a clip of your Remus exhaust sound?
     

    I can try, but what I found was the online recordings do not do it (or most exhaust) justice. It is throaty without being obnoxious. Lay into the pedal and it really opens up. I get comments on it, just again today. The quality of the materials and the fit and finish are excellent. It came shipped ready to bolt on and was packed in molded foam.

    It was ready to assemble after removing your old exhaust (measure twice and cut once with a good exhaust pipe tool). As a hint, if you do it yourself be sure to use oil when cutting the old exhaust, makes it cut 10xs easier and without crushing the pipe. I cut mine with a chain cutter without removing the entire assembly first, essentially right on the vehicle after setting my air suspension to the highest setting.
  5. I am used to seeing "Made in Germany" as well as other pertinent size info stamped on the backside of Porsche wheel spokes. I have noticed a couple sets of Turbo II (may be others but that is what I am looking at) that have the info marked on the inner wheel with all the relevant info and say "Made in USA Alcoa". I know there are knockoffs on the market but they usually say nothing (do not say made in Germany or USA) from what I see and are made in China. The couple I see that say "made in USA Alcoa" reportedly came off 2014 model Cayennes and are original from the factory which is confusing. I will get a picture to upload. Can anyone confirm they make some wheels in the USA now, or have a Cayenne they bought new with this indication?

  6. Just curious if anyone here knows if the exhaust meant for a 958 Turbo (say 2012) will fit a same gen 958 S as long as you have the turbo tips? I think the answer is yes in that I believe they use the same muffler unit) and I think the exhaust outlets come out the same on both rear bumpers meaning the bumper cutouts are the same. Thanks if anyone can help.

  7. Porsche maintenance books says:

    "Check drive belt at 40,000 mls, but no later than every 4 years -- replace any drive belt no later than 60,000 mls or 6 years"

    I do not see this listed, are you saying this is in the manual that came with the Cayenne? Mine says to just check it every 40k. If it needs replaced at 60k then I am at my mileage limit, yet the belt literally looks brand new with no signs of wear, cracking or hazing.
  8. Anyone install a Fabspeed maxflo on a cayenne 958 S WITHOUT cat delete? I am wanting to order a set, hoping they are a little louder without allot of crackle and rasp. It is almost impossible to find someone on YouTube that has not also added the cat delete pipes. If you have only the exhaust and can give me some insight or better yet a short video that would be great. It would be on you 958 S (v8) Cayenne. Fabspeed says it is a little deeper note and roughly 10-20 percent louder, I would like some real life feedback or video if possible.

  9. Just curious if anyone has experience with the Remus exhaust on the 958S? I am looking for an exhaust with a deep and non-raspy sound (not like the GTS or the PSE seems to be) and the Remus seems it might fit the bill with a deeper note. Not quite muscle car sound but still pretty deep. Also looking at the agency power unit but not sure. I found some clips, most are for the turbo or the v6.

  10. So I wan thinking of having my ECU tuned, I have a 2012 Cayenne S. I was thinking rather than sending mine in I could buy a used one and send it, but I did not know if the Cayenne will recognize it or if it somehow has to be activated or recognized at a dealer? Not sure if that makes sense, but essentially are the ECU plug and play or vin specific? I am looking at agency power (be tuned) or something similar. Thanks
