  1. Here is some info concerning the exhaust setup of a 987-2, that is the Boxster and Cayman made from MY 2009 to 2012, also known as the DFI, gen2, mk2 or facelift versions. The 2005-2008 987-1 Boxster and 2006-2008 987-1 Cayman have an exhaust system with the primary cats inside the left and right manifolds and the secondary cats are installed inside the left and right exhausts. Although the 987-2 exhausts look pretty close to the exhausts of the 987-1, they are not the same and that is where the confusion starts for some. The 987-2 exhaust system has , just like the new 981, the primary cats AND the secondary cats inside the manifolds. There are no cats anymore in the exhausts of the 987-2, even though it looks that way. Therefore, if you are replacing only the left and right exhaust boxes on a 987-2 with another exhaust -and keep the original manifolds- then you are not deleting the secondary cats. The only way to delete the secondary cats on a 987-2 is by replacing or modifying the manifolds. More facts : The 987-2 primary cats are 400 cpsi (cells) not 700 or 800. (see picture bellow) The weight of the left and right standard 987-2 exhaust is 2x 6 = 12kg = 26.40 lbs The Sport tail pipe+ center pipe clamp +2x strap+ 2xbracket : 3,55kg Total : 15,55 kg = 34,21 lbs The weight of the left and right CaymanR exhaust (no PSE) is 2x 5,72 kg = 11,44 kg = 25.17 lbs The CaymanR tail pipe+ center pipe clamp +2x strap+ 2xbracket : 3,55 kg Total : 14,99 kg = 33,98 lbs The 987-2 PSE exhausts weigh 7,6 kg/each = 15,20 kg = 33.44 lbs The PSE tail pipe+ center pipe clamp +2x strap+ 2xbracket : 3,55 kg Total : 18,75 kg = 41.25 lbs As you can see, it is not possible to save 40 lbs when installing aftermarket exhausts even when they are made in Ti. All the 987-2 (and 981) exhausts are made by Eberspacher whereas the 987-1 exhausts were made by Eisenmann. These original 987-1 and 987-2 exhausts are not interchangable as the intake pipes have a different length and the flanges are under a different angle. There are a couple of versions, but the typical 987-1 standard exhaust weighs 7,9 kg/each = 15,8 kg = 34,76 lbs (excl tail pipe and hardware). This is the 987-2 standard exhaust opened up : There is no catalytic inside. Here you see the 987-2 manifold showing location of the primary and secondary cats : This is the primary cat of the 987-2 exhaust system. Count them yourself : 20 x 20 cells per inch = 400 cpsi and not 700, 800 or .... I hope this helped.
  2. Check your email :). If the car drives prefect, then it looks like you only need to have the alignment checked.
  3. It's a Carrera 2 with aerokit RS. It is not an S model which is a wide body.
  4. The Cayman R has a special version of the PSE. These are different from the factory installed PSE on any other 987-2 and the PSE retrofit.
  5. You need to order the dash switch separately. Btw : 000.044.200.19 is superseded by the new version PSE 000.044.200.21

    GT3 PCM2 Install

Loren, does that mean you can retrofit the Most bus into the '04 GT3 ?
  7. Yuck, what a cheap looking installation ! Why can't they hide the DVD player in the center console or under the seats or even in the armrest !
  8. Here is a picture of it : http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat=0...=true#Post35396 It's pricey and still full of bugs so I'm told.
  9. The left and right mufflers have changed from part # so the sport exhaust retrofit also got a new part #. I picked up a new sport exhaust yesterday ("21") and I didn't see any external differences.
  10. Try pushing the odo/trip reset button and then turn the ignition on. I accidently did this some weeks ago and saw a message a la "service reset" on the dashboard.
  11. The steering wheel is leather. BYR must be "8YR'. 8YR stands for black . The other part # 996.803.089.02 is a leatherette airbag. It is missing the color code. For black, the part# should read 996.803.089.02 A28
  12. On the inside of the wheel you should find the Porsche stamp. (a "P" inside a triangle) Porsche recently changed suppliers for a lot of parts, it's possible that the new wheel is from a different supplier.
  13. The silver "Carrera" script is 996.559.237.10 4PU The other one (996.559.237.07 4PU) is superseded by this part#.
  14. The -'02 consoles are Artic Silver : Silver with several layers of clearcoat, just like the exterior color. As from '03- the consoles are Sport Silver or also called "soft touch" silver. This silver is much brighter and looks like the alu of the shifter and the alu handbrake.
  15. That is the part # for the console. You also need the ash tray, ashtray holder and the cover for the handbrake.
  16. Matt, Excellent !!! Did you find a switched power source in the roof console? If so, where?
  17. Next step is to be sure that Fuse 42 is directly connected to wire #3. Fuses like F42 generally are installed in the main 12V circuit. If there are no voltage reducers or resistors in the wiring between F42 and #3, I would try to wire the outgoing contact of F42. You can always use a fast 100mA fuse.
  18. Hi Matt, When you switch on the headlights, the 3 yellow LED's work as backlights for the switches. I just checked out the circuit board for the buttons. The connector with the 3 wires has the following configuration : #1 : +12V headlights (to power the 3 LED's) #2 : Ground for homelink module and backlights of the buttons #3 : + voltage for the homelink. Since the LED's work, it is sure that #1 and #2 are fine. You need to check if you find power (positive) on the #3 wire. Good luck.
  19. The springs on the left are the rear springs. There are colored dots on the springs that can tell you which ones they are.
  20. I never connect these. If you have a DVD system you or the passengers will only be able to watch movies when the handbrake is off.
  21. X47 : shifter in carbon/alu leather X58 : handbrake in carbon/alu leather
  22. The dealer can retrofit the PCM without any problem. It takes 5-6 hours . You can't DIY because of the MOST.

The '04 GT3 Cup has a carbon air guide. It come with the Cup air filter cover. As usual for Cup parts, it's pricey though...
