  1. Hi Poze,

I hope you'll forgive the direct message but was hoping you'd be able to help as I seem to have very similar issues to those you had last year regarding the brakes on your 996. I've flushed the brake fluid 4-5 times, changed the rubber lines, new pads and discs and refurbished calipers - but when the engine is running I still have excessive pedal movement (the first 1.5 inches does basically nothing) yet it's rock hard with engine off.

I cannot see how air may have got into the ABS so I really don't think that's my problem - plus the first time I got it bled, I got OPC Reading to do it and they should have used the proper technique.

I am contemplating spending ~£400 on a durametric cable in order to cycle the ABS. I read that you thought the master cylinder might have been failing and I think the same may be happening on my car (also a '99). Did you ever get this replaced and has it resolved the problem? (However, the kicker is that if I do change the master cylinder then i'll definitely need the durametric to bleed the ABS).

    Many thanks

    John
