Call dealer again and ask about the overheat issue. The true is I need a new coolant reservoir tank which is cracked. Thank you for all your input.

Hi, the temp gauge is over the 180 mark and close to the next mark. The engine running rich and hot one left side was according the dealer told me. The coolant is kind normal. The thermostat been checked and it's okay.
If possible, can you hint me how to replace the Oil Separator, and what parts I need. Thanks.

Thanks again! Sorry I did state clearly. The temperature gauge was passed the right middle (usually only stay in the center) and went to close to next digit, front fans was engaged however I could not tell if the rear fan on or not. The over heat light not on yet because I not drove it too far (20-30miles). The car was run rich and hot on left side for sure.

Yes, the car running hot than normal recently and causing engine stalled during traffic. I was change a lot of things already, fuel filter, spark plugs, MAF sensor, spark plugs sleeves and of cause, added the injector cleanser, frequently.
My local Porsche (and European cars) mechanic shop can not resolve this problem, so I go to the dealer.
Any other suggestion?

Hi,
My ’99 C2 (62,000M) has the P1124 code constantly for 6 months, I bring the car to the dealer this weekend. They told me it was bad Oil Separator which will cost me $2,100 to replace it.
My question is can it be DIY? how hard it is ? where it locate?
Also they mentioned the card has a little overheat on left-side of engine cyn1-3, it was a bad cool barrel, what’s that? They quote me $850 for fix it.
Any input will much appreciate.

After a long process - changed MAF, Speak plugs, Speak boots, O2 sensors and ...etc... problem seems resolved by trauh's way -
Tightening the throttle air intake bolts. CEL not back for almost one month 1000mils. it must some please has vacuum leak. And now the car seems more smooth and has better gas mileage.

I changed all six spark plugs during week-end and found the spark plug in cylinder#1 was very oilily. I read some threads in here which talked about the o-rings in spark boot needs to be replace. My questions are:
1. Do I need to open the cam cover?
2. What replacement parts I need to buy and where to buy them?
3. I have P1124 reading from CEL every one or two weeks , are they any relate from this leaked?

Please see these pictures for the detail.
1. The end transmission mount
2. Broken robber inside the bushing.
3. A Boxster parts, you have to buy the whole set (bracket + the mount) and
press out the mount unit to use it in my 996.
The robber in bushing is very easily broken which will cause the Engine and transmission vibrate and more damage can be happen if ignore this problem.
Porsche should do something improvement. And they should make this parts available.

So, your service shop called a local dealer for the transmission mounts and the dealer said that "the parts are not available"? Does that mean that the dealer does not have them in stock, or that you can't even order the parts from Porsche? The latter seems strange for something as simple as a mount so it's probably the former.
I'd clarify with your shop what "the parts are not available" means and get the part numbers. You can call around to other dealers and see if anyone has them in stock or can order them (try board sponsor Sunset Imports). In the rare case that the parts cannot be ordered, you could try a dismantler and get used parts off a low mileage 996 or Boxster (if the parts are the same) -- someone like LA Porsche (www.laporsche.com 818-767-7243).
Thank you Coaster, according they told me the mount brushing is part of transmission, if the car under warranty, Porsche will replace the whole transmission. There is no parts number for it alone. I just don't know how true it is.

My shop shown me the damaged part: which is the mounting between the transmission with the chassis. inside the mount has rubber brushing to absolve the vibration/movement. The rubber brushing inside was broken so caused the engine+transmission vibrated. They also shown me a taken down Boxster engine, which use the same mounting part between the engine and transmission, also the same thing, the rubber broken inside. Dose any one has the some type of problem? how to obtain the replacement parts? Any feedback will be highly appreciate.

My service shop tell me my '99 C2 enging is vibrating too much and the engine mount needs to be changes . After they changed two engine mounts, they found out
the problem is comes from the transmission mount. They tried to order the parts form dealer and the dealer said parts are not available. Can some one give me an idea what are engine and transmission mounts? and where can get the right parts?

The problem has been found.
It was caused by wrong rear TOE-IN adjustment, there's 1/2 inch over so the rear tires always dragged and worn very fast. It's cuased me two set of rear tires with in four months. OUCH. :angry:

Any spacers or non Porsche wheels? If so how large are the spacers and what is the size and offset of the wheels?
If you have TC then you likely have a LSD. You should not get any screeching except when a rear wheel is slipping.

Everything are origial , I did not add/change anything. I think I'll need go to the dealer and let them to check this time. :( (or it might be the last alignment did do right.)

Thank you everyone, alignment done by my local grage who fixing Porsche and other Europen cars. I printed out the alignment data from this site and they using a computerize equipment to go the job. My '99 C2 has TC, which always on, if it's correct? or I better turn it off.
There's screech sound from the rear tires in slow turns only when the tire traction was low.

My 99' C2 becomes a tire eater. Few months ago I changed my rear tires to Kumbo MX 18" and they only last for three month around 4000miles. Then I changed them back to P Zero and did the four wheel alignment ,now only 3000 miles they almost gone again. Both rear tires wear evenly. however, I always find my rear bumper has black particles and stink smell when park into grage, which are obvious the rear tires worn out violently.
I live in Southern California, not a aggressively driver.

Problem solved:
One pin near the center pivot was falls off. It cased the shifting freely from Drive and Manual.
You need to remove the center console and disassembly the whole Tiptronic unit to fix this problem.
