  1. Thanks I'll check the connector first, if that's not the problem I'll have my mechanic check door lock assembly.
  2. I noticed that when I don't close my driver door completely, the warning chime does not come on anymore. Also the interior lights don't come on when I open the driver door. So my guess is that sensor/button that detects the door opening is stuck in the "door closed" position. The other doors work fine. Where is the sensor for the door that detects the door opening? Is this something I can just clean with WD-40 or do I need to replace some senson? Thanks
  3. Thanks, I got it out. I wedged a wooden paint stirrer into the lateral part of the housing, that opened up a big enough gap for me to get a good grip of both sides. It took a bit a force but the ball popped out.
  4. I'm having trouble removing the tailight unit to replace a broken bulb. I removed the plastic plugs and 2 screws and tried to pull the unit out but can't get it to pop out. Is there a trick to loosen it to remove the assembly? Thanks
  5. Thanks, it seems to open and close fine when the door is open. So I suspect that it's encountering some resistance when the door is closed. The problem seemed to have disappeared now that I've opened and closed the window about 50 times while testing it. I'll have the dealer check it out if it happens again. I hate it when I take the car in and the problem miraculously disappears!
  6. I'm not sure if this is normal and I don't see it in the manual but when I close the passenger window from the Driver Side or passenger controls, the window goes up about 1/2 way up then drops down to about 1/4 way, then stops. When I push the close button again it goes all the way up. Why is it doing this? Is this some anti-crushing feature in case somebody's head or arm gets stuck?
  7. There are several types. One hole or two hole? Smoker or non-smoker version? Most are about $34.06 MSRP. Sunset Porsche (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) is the best online source - link at the top right of any page. It looks like there are 2 openings, one for the cigarette lighter on the right and nothing on the left. Do I remove this cover by unscrewing the the screws on the upper left and right corners as in the picture?
  8. It's the part you push to open the rear hatch. It's right above the license plate and covered with a black rubber material. Thanks.
  9. Loren, Can you provide me the part number for the handle for my rear hatch? I cannot open the rear hatch. Also can you describe the procedure to replace it? Thanks
  10. Loren, I need part #21, the cover for the cigarette lighter. The door doesn't stay closed. MY 04, tan/beige interior. What is the part #? Can you tell me how much approx is this part? Also can you recommend a good internet parts site for Porsche parts? How do I remove the old part to replace? Thanks.
  11. I've had this problem off and on which was finally resolved when they changed the wiring/plug that the headlight unit slides into.
  12. Funny this was one of the complaints of the CDR-23 back when the Cayenne came out in 2003, I guess they never bothered listening to the customers. Unfortunately it doesn't work for the my Nav system either.
  13. I've read that if you remove the head unit that it would set off a fault code.
  14. Last week I got a fault code on my dash that showed a Key Icon and the phrase System Fault Workshop. No problem with driving and it occured with both keys. I took it into the dealership and they told me that it was the Ignition Control Module but they had to order the part. I got my car back while waiting for the part to come in and noticed that I don't have the fault code appearing anymore! So what should I do? Was the part really defective or was it some random computer glitch that was cleared when the tech hooked up the computer to my car? My service invoice stated "63508 at Technical Inspection. Technician found ignition control module with internal open circuit." I'm a bit confused, if the part is really defective, shouldn't it keep showing the System fault message?
  15. I think I'll give the bulb switch a try. Sylvania makes a silver one that turns amber when switched on so it's street legal. I'll update the board if it works.
  16. I've had this intermittent problem with the directional bulb light not functioning. Every once in awhile, when I push the directional stalk to signal a right turn, the front directional bulb doesn't blink and I get a warning in my dash. Once I turn off the engine and restart it, it works normally again. The dealer changed the entire headlight assembly last year for this problem but it's still happening. The last few times, I took it in, the dealer "tightened" the connection, whatever that means. Any suggestions other than stop turning right? I notice that the new 2008 models have a revised turn signal light, I'll bet that this is a recurring problem.
  17. The dealer inserted another disc and updated the system software to 3.0 in my PCM. Works fine now. Thanks Loren
  18. My Nav unit shows 2.0 software. The discs show that I need version 3.0, now I'm really confused. Either way I'll be taking it in for a software update. Thanks.
  19. I'm not sure, it's a recent installation by the dealer. What firmware version should it be? According to the PCM it's 2.0, software 2.0. Interestingly, the discs state that they are compatible to software version 3.0. That may be the problem, I'll take it in to upgrade the software. Thanks Loren.
  20. I have this problem with the Nav unit, I would search for a particular POI such as a grocery store, the Nav unit would display a list of the stores but no address would appear. The Nav unit would show how many miles away the store is when I select it but since no address would come up, I cannot select "Plan route". The Nav CD is in the unit and they are the latest maps. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
  21. I'm a Zaino convert, check out their products. www.zainostore.com
  22. How can I remove the plastic "junk tray" trim under my standard radio CDR-23? I would like to get access into that area to hide phone/PDA chargers. Do I just pry it off or is there a hidden screw/tab that needs to be released.
  23. I didn't bother removing the plastic trim. I just slipped it under the side trim and used velcro to hold the back in place on the footrest. It's a pretty snug fit and it doesn't move.
  24. Well, I got it back today and they still can't figure out why this is happening to my radio. The service rep. told me that Porsche is aware of this problem and it is a known issue with other Cayennes. They are currently looking into the matter to find a fix.
  25. Loren, I only have the CDR-23 Head unit, CD Changer, and Bose system, would a software upgrade fix this problem too? I also have an intermittent problem with the radio not producing any sound even though the radio is on. At first I thought the mute button was pushed but it wasn't. The problem would resolve itself after I turn off the engine and restart it a few hours later. Could this be all related with the bass/treble controls?
