  1. I have a 99 2.5 Boxster and I recently made the upgrade to Zimmerman drilled rotors and Mintex pads and sure enough, whenever the pads warm up, the brakes squeal. I also installed the 996 dampeners and still, the brakes squeal. Of course if I press hard on my brakes the squeal goes away. But man, there are times where I dont feel like braking THAT hard. Since clubhead has had success, I'll try doing the same method, by filing down the edges of the Mintex pads. Hopefully, this will stop the squeal. If this doesnt work, Im going back to oem rotors and pads. I'll repost my results. If anyone out there has done the same thing using the ever so popular Zimmerman/Mintex combo, please let us know. This might be something a lot of people would like to solve. Its comforting knowing that theres a possible fix to the embarassment of stopping every time. Alright, I picked up my car from the shop and drove home. So far no squeak! I'd normally drive maybe a couple miles where the brakes would start to squeak, but after an hour driving home from the shop...no brake squeak whatsoever. Filing the Mintex pads worked. It turns out that the newer pads come pre-filed or pre-fitted from the factory. Thats why they never had any sound problems with their drilled rotors. Ahh silence is golden :D

  3. I have a 1999 Boxster manual 2.5 and I plan to replace the front OEM Bumper with a 1999 Manual OEM Carrera Bumper(off of craigslist). The carrera bumper has the black plastic lining piece that fits around the air ducts behind the bumper including the black plastic piece that covers the center hole. But do I need the 996 grill vents that supposedly sit behind the left and right air ducts just like the black vents the Boxster has? I checked the Carrera front bumper parts list submited by Loren on a couple of posts, and I couldn't see that theyre there. Pelican Parts sells them, but really, do I need tham for my Boxster? (I.e. leaves blowing in and channeling through potentially damaging something) Thanks in advance!
  4. Hi, I recently installed the litronic retrofit kit using Toolpant's 9X6 Werks DVD (Great tutorial video by the way) for my 1999 Boxster. I installed the litronics using the wiretap method. The litronics work perfect, but I've encountered a problem...sound wise. When I drive the car, I hear this "buzz/hum" sound coming from the front of the car, particularly between 1st and 2nd gear. The sound is intermittent between 3rd and 4th gear, but predominantly noticeable between 1st and 2nd. I visually checked to see if anything was loose or dangling in the frunk compartment that might be causing the sound, but everything seems to be fine. I thought it might be the wiretaps, but the lights work fine, so I dont think its the wiretap connection. The fuses are 15amps like they are supposed to be. I also replaced my battery (Kirkland-48)about a week before I installed the litronics, but I never heard the sound after I installed the battery, only after I installed the litronics, so I dont think its the battery. I'm curious if anyone else has encountered this problem or if there is a fix for this. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks
  5. I just tried this amazing "ziplock" bag procedure on my '99 Boxster and it WORKS!!! I just saved myself 3-400 dollars!!! Thanks deliriousga!!!
