  1. Lewisweller .. my fear is something seized up...the large terminal on the starter (the one that doesnt have battery feed on it) appears to burned and chewed up , similar to a piece of metal exposed that had arching on it
  2. JFP in PA ..finally warmed up here in eastern Pennsylvania.. i check the voltage at the battery, the jump terminals and starter ..all the same ... can i jump the starter to test it before taking it off ? Or another way of testing starter before removing it ..i do hve the intake manifold off.
  3. Thank tounJFP . Its 8 degrees here today so i will be waiting a couple days for it to warm up
  4. Can i check voltage at starter without taking intake manifold off ? batreries are proper voltage amd CCA i am getting a loud click from batrery discharge relay which is at the second battery in cargo area beneath the sub woofer . That battery is new as well.
  5. What would cause the voltage drop on the battery cabbles ? my concern is the burning smell i noticed when i was trying to start , could that have been stater burning up ?
  6. All fuses good ised scan tool and had a few codes that were generic (probably from pulling fuses) chasis grounds seem ok
  7. Thanks loren. my issue is 2004 cayenne s 8 cylinder wont start . Tried starting last week in the artic cold we were having in pennsylvania ( 5 degrees ) ran for 15 second then died , tried staring a few more times and engine would slowly crank but would not start . Tried starting a few more times and now cranking at all and not even a noise from starter . Did notice a burning electric smell but couldnt tell if from cab or engine area. changed battery under seat , no change . Replaced starter relay in E box , no change checked second battery and have 13.4 volts , but when i try to start i get a loud click from the battery discharge relay next to second battery . i get full power to lights, cab, radio, fan, etc.., how can i test starter without pulling off intake ? Could i jumper at the relay ? could engine have seized ? never had starting issues until this artic cold snap .
  8. Loren, you mentioned a second starter relay with the 2 battery cayenne system . Where is that located ? also is there a way to test the battery discharge relay which is connected to the second battery under the sub?
  9. I do not have leak down test equipment. Is the fact that each cylinder compression is almost identical to each other a good thing ?
  10. Checked compression this morning with car cold (65 degrees outside) I had 120 across each cylinder ... compression seems low but I'm getting feedback Because it wasn't a warm engine but the same reading across all 8 is stable.. could my misfiring and unburned fuel be a valve issue at this point.
  11. Is there anyway to check each cylinder is getting spark ? Not to familiar with coil.packs, it seems all the gas is not combusting. I have tried a few different plugs and same results
  12. It's definitely gas. The engine chugs and sputters while driving. Somewhat loss of power. When I come to a stop or park ,there is a strong gas smell from engine area and there are no.leaks.
  13. I agree that it seems more ignition related.. is there some diagnostics I can do to pinpoint the cause ? Cylinders 2,4,6,8 and 3 are the wet plugs
  14. 140k miles, mafs cleaned rece Any advice what could 5 cylinders to misfire....Plugs and coils are new
  15. 140k miles, mafs cleaned recently. Compression is around 170 on all 8 Except number 8 is 158 JFP ...Should I check them at idle ? What would be normal on the 2004 Cayenne s 8 cylinder ? My hunch is it's running very rich
  16. 140k miles, mafs cleaned recently. Compression is around 170 on all 8 Except number 8 is 158
  17. 5 of 8 plugs wet with gas. Idles fine but hesitates when driving mainly shifting into lower gears. This is automatic transmission. Also strong gas smell when I come to stop and put in park. New coils and new plugs. Put new in because when I pulled last plugs 50 miles ago with same problems I assumed plugs were bad.. Black dry soot in tailpipes. My assumption is it's running rich. How can I balance this fuel issue ? Get misfiring codes. No other codes. Checked injectors for leaks they are ok. Could it be bad O2 sensor (s) .
  18. I put new plugs in today.. still running rich. I will get pictures in morning. If I pull the crankcase breather hose off and let it drain for a few minutes there is a puddle the size of a quarter. I'm assuming this oil getting by is fouling my plugs. What else could be causing oil to appear in this hose ? Or is the only option a failing AOS diaphragm and cap
  19. Compression tests done...All in good range.170 153. Still have a lot of oil in crankcase breather hose. Inspected diaphragm in AOS and there are no cracks ,splits or holes...Cleaned it all up. Checked for vacuum leaks...None noticed , Even sprayed with CRC What can cause this oil in breather hose.. I noticed it's dirty around AOS and also where hoses go into to valve covers on each side . Engine is running rich and some smoke for few minutes after start up. Smoke is white and not coolant smell.. smells of fuel and just a strong stinks exhaust. Plugs were pretty black and seem to be carbon as they were dry but had an oil smell... I am so darn confused her now... What is the air flow direction between the AOS and and throttle body ( this is where the crankcase breather hose with the oil in it is..) Any help would be appreciated.
  20. Looking for a part number and where to buy AOS for 2004 Porsche Cayenne S v8
  21. New coils just put in 1700 miles ago. Just Pulled plugs today which I put in same time I did coils.. #8 was black with crusty black deposits on it ,. Assume oil. That's why I am thinking AOS is bad. No real smoke at exhaust other than normal start up on cold day. No blue smoke and using around 1 quart of oil per 600-700 miles which I believe is normal. Thank you for your help.
