  1. Picking up this old thread - I cant seem to work this out either, did anyone manage it?
  2. I thought you either had the bose or the second battery not both? I' have bose and have assumed I dont have the other battery. My car is a 2009 GTS. Anyone confirm before I rip the bose out?
  3. Hi yes, Well after 18months and a lot of miles I can share a few thoughts. Firstly. I've done a lot of offroading in the car. As a result I've picked up or had cuts / splits on 2 of the tyres. This caused me to replace all 4 tyres recently as I was worried about impact during long trips. So I put 4 more BFGs KO2s back one. Immediately after that I 've 1 tyre delaminate following 90mins at 160kph. Not impressed. Tyre has been replaced under warranty, but not sure yet whether the tyre or batch is an issue. Whilst I've never had a BFG actually puncture, I have to
  4. As it happens I've fitted a Motor sports kill switch to my cayenne. Mine is a 2008 GTS, and has the 17" spare and bose subwoofer. However, I needed a kill switch fitted. So I've fitted mine to the base of the drivers seat. I would figure on a car with dual batteries, there is no reason why you couldnt do the same. Out of interest, I'm keen to take the bose out and fit a second battery under the wheel. Not worked out details yet.
  5. Just want to echo reese5997's comments. I live in the UAE, my steering threw a fault, which meant the car was a paperweight....anyway the garage quoted a huge money for a new column, so I got them to remove it and send to Tom at www.speedosolutions.com. His service was brilliant, took time on the phone, work to cut my postage charge and offered to contact the garage to help them remove the right parts. Any car is back on the road, fully working for 1/3 of the price. Brilliant service.
  6. OK - fixed this one myself - for reference for others. It looks like its an issue with the FO connectors, if they drop signal, the unit doesnt seem to show power. Once this is resolved, all is good.
  7. OK - an update. the device works intermittently, when it does, the buttons on steering wheel now work. This leaves the fact that the unit doesnt always power on. ......
  8. All, I've followed a few threads on this topic, not have just attempted it. But I've hit problems. Install initially went fine. My kit didnt come with the MOST loop for the CD changer, and I sourced one of those. I also had a factory TV install, which complicates things, but its now removed and looped out (it does receive channels here anyway). At this point the unit work, I could make calls and play music. Howover, I couldnt control it from the steering wheel buttons, only the console buttons. Anyone any ideas why this is the case? I have wondered if it is li
  9. thanks guys - sorry to doubt - just dont want to get it wrong. OK - I'm good to go, can turn of airbags at will . Going to try on my next sand trip in a couple of weeks. Will report back.
  10. Well, its early days, but here is what I can share......I had an SUV, now I have a truck :-). The ride is ruined, its a lot harsher than the road tyres. There is a whine, although not too bad. The car is fine up to about 140kph (not been any faster), and around town you dont notice the difference in noise. Out of town, its a bit of worse, but really OK. Will report back when done a decent long trip. As expected its a trade off, the fear of punctures on trails was too great. having had both old and new tyres side by side when not mounted. the difference in flex is huge. Wil
  11. OK - folks, I've done some research and checked my car in detail. It looks like disconnecting the battery and removing this box above (or disconnecting it) is the way forward. It looks like my PCM2.1 doesnt need a code so I should be able to disconnect battery without fear. Further research indicated that actually there is a roll over activation built into the airbag system. Hence the need to do this.
  12. Hi, that sounds like great news, lets confirm I've got this all 100% accurate. So my 2008 Porsche Cayenne GTS has PCM 2.1 which looks like this....picture below, I've now found the sticker. https://goo.gl/photos/rVMALoMHeG18B8YA9 sticker https://goo.gl/photos/XF3GS98pn7E9oEfA8
  13. Hi - thanks for the suggestion, I need to disconnect the Airbag module, so I need the system to be powered down. that would be easier otherwise, and what the installer did, last time the battery was changed.
  14. Hi, I need to disconnect the battery, before I do, I dont have the radio code. From a little research I have the PCM 2.1 in my GTS. I think to get the code, I have to call the OPC, but need the serial number of the unit.......can I get this without pulling the unit on the car? Would like to avoid pulling the unit if possible.
  15. OK guys, looks like the only safe way I can work out is to remove the module, whilst off road. This involves disconnecting the battery, which means I need the radio code....going to put another thread up for that. Will then report back. Going to need a quick way to do this, if tis going to be a regular thing. thinking of fitting a cut out switch to the battery.
  16. OK quick update on tyres sizes. I've just had my BFgoodrich ko2 ATs fitted 265/65/R18s. All fine, no rubbing on lowest setting. Very happy - now need to go try them.
  17. Hi does this work for Porsche Cayenne 957? A quick suggests its not clear, but that Durametric is the porsche equiv. Although its unclear if you can use it for ridehieght restting. Have you used vag-com for ride height on the porsche? I've not checked video (As in office), will check later. thanks for the lead.... [Updated] OK - there is loads of information on this it seems. Need to go away and read in detail. Looks like Durametric may be the way to go. although I've not used either system.
  18. Actually doing some research, but looking at newer Cayennes it looks like airbags are deployed on impact side and front. Not on roll over. Does anyone know if this is true? If so I would not need to modify the system at all. Function of the airbag system Airbags are a supplemental safety system. Your primary protection comes from your safety belts. The front airbags are triggered during a frontal collision of sufficient force and direction. In the event of a side impact of corresponding force, the side airbag on the impact side is triggered. The inflation process g
  19. I cant find anything that states function, I know most other systems will trigger if you move from a left gradient to a right gradient quickly, as it can think the car is rolling over. The gradients alone are not the concern, more the change from one to another. Before pulling the thing apart, I'll look some more on system activation, but so far I've not uncovered anything, just evidence that other cars (Jeep cherokee etc) suffer from this. I've had a look at disconnection - it does look a little more complex than first considered. The system has some back up power (not sure whe
  20. Hi - yes looked at this $2,000 plus. Way too much money for me, I'm afraid. :-(
  21. Does this disconnect all air bags then? Sounds like it wouldnt be too hard to fit a switch to that, if thats the case. I am encouraged. will try to look at this.
  22. Sadly you are probably right, I figure someone has been through it though.....
  23. Hi, I've tried this, it doesnt work. The auto regulation goes back on when the car exceeds a certain speed. I've also heard and tried that fitting the tyre inflation hose into the socket disables ride height changes, but that doesnt work on my car either. I kind of figure that there is a wire with speed feed into the control unit, and you could simply fit a switch inline with this, but I've not found out if thats true, or how to do it. regards hugh
  24. Hi, Does anyone know when the airbags activate, and whether they can all be turned off easily. I've been using the car in the desert a bit, and one of the techniques for traversing dunes, is side cresting, which requires swapping from one side slope, to the other, which puts the car for quite a side angle rotation. This can set off airbags on some cars, but not sure on the Cayenne, so far I've avoided doing this, but am wondering if its an issue or not. Car is a 2009 Cayenne GTS
  25. Hi, I have tried this, and you sadly it doesnt work. The autoregulation seems to switch off once the car is moving. I've also previously read that plugging in the tyre filler hose will stop the suspension from working, but that ooesnt work on my car either. Thanks for the input, I feel there has to be a way. Ideally, I'd like to fit a switch between the speed feed to the control box, but I cant work that out. I was hoping someone has done it. already. :-)
