Can anyone point me to alternative windshield wiper replacements for my '04 Cayenne? I get nasty scraping noises more quickly than you'd expect. I've stepped up the frequency of RainX applications and even bought a pack of wiper rejuvenator wipes to compensate. It's not overuse/abuse, my '04 has just over 30K miles on it; I've reported it to my dealer twice.
I found one non-Porsche OEM set on a site a few weeks ago, ordered them, but the order was later cancelled without explanation.
Alternatives/suggestions appreciated, it's just an annoyance. I'd pay the same price as OEM Porsche if only the **** things would last longer.
I suggest just getting an original set again--mine used to make noise, i bought a new set and 20,000 miles later i just bought another set to replace. I dont think thats so bad--it didnt start making noise however one wasnt wiping to perfection and i have OCD so...i just got another set.

$40 for the set. not a bad deal considering what some dealers charge.

Not really a matter of the "newest" dvd, as much as it is a problem of "can i do it at all?" I'm already bidding on an older set of Navteq DVDs on ebay, due up Sunday evening. I figure hey, if I can get it working for $50 in parts, I'd be willing to buy a new set to push the maps. Otherwise, I feel like my money spent on a new set would be a foolish investment.
I'll keep you informed though, if this DVD to CD conversion works, I'll certainly be hitting you up :)
sounds good, best of luck with your project!! :D

My CD version is
U0006-0060-210 (CD Pkg 2002-1)
Good news though!
I was able to successfully create an ISO9660 standard image, and swap the maps from North America (Southeast) and North America (Northeast)!
It took 3 attempts; there's some unmarked sectors on the CDs which declare it the format useable for the system. This is an observed speculation, since creating a straight image from the CD works, but merely formatting in the same setup and adding files creates a frisbee. My My next step is to find another CD set to attempt to update.
If anyone has the DVD navigation system, I'd love to have some information regarding the file names and sizes on the DVD so I can see if it's worth buying to update the CD set.
Contents of 2002 Navigation CD for North America - Northeast:
278a9280.db 2k
GPS_214_78.db 174k
kN033NA05x01.db 382,002k
PU1278a_78.db 159,382k
SP_1844WP_78.db 11,022k
XBB9280.db 2,978k
Great to hear that you are making progress! I am still very interested in this project - I wish there was some way I could help. Unfortunately, I don't have access to the DVD. Maybe we could get a group from this board together to chip in and buy a new DVD from Navteq for the data.
I could help you if you require the newest navigation DVD, email me at SLP01005@aol.com

I disagree - if you can do an oil change then you can do both minor and major service too.major services should be done by porsche dealeri agree the services can be done on ones own....but should a problem arise...cant the dealer blame it on not servicing it at porsche and void warranty?

HI,
I'D LIKE TO KNOW THE PART NUMBERS FOR ALL NAVIGATION DISCS FOR 2007 PORSCHES, INCLUDING 911, BOXSTERS, CAYMANS AND CAYENNES:
- SOUTH AMERICA;
- CENTRAL AMERICA;
- ARGENTINA;
- BRAZIL;
- CHILE;
- COLOMBIA;
- PANAMA.
THANKS FOR HELP,
ROB
The disc for America covers these countries:
Brasil
Canada
Hawaii
Mexico
Puerto Rico
USA
the part number for the latest disc (05/2007) is 997.642.257.05 (Works in PCM 2.1 (Boxsters/Caymans/911 unsure if same for Cayenne)).
I believe the newest for Cayenne is 10.2006, part # 998.642.257.04, although I know this Nav disc can work in any 2005+ model porsche. Works on the PCM 2.1 system. If you arent on the 2.1 system, and get the disc, your system will report an incompatible disc inserted. You either have to pay Porsche an hours worth of labor for a 5 min job you can do on your own if you can get your hands on the update cd. If anyone needs the update disc or nav disc, email me: SLP01005@aol.com

17" is stock and the best choice for winter tires traction and price as well.
Actually, as far as I know...I believe that you cant. 17" are stock on the v6 Cayenne b/c the calipers are smaller. On the CS and Turbo, 18"s are the smallest that can go sicne the calipers are bigger (the CS and the CT have the same calipers).

if you need the newest nav dvd, version 10.2006 and the udpate cd to bring your firmware up to the 2.1 version that is needed for all new navigation dvds....email me at slp01005@aol.com
i can help you out!

Is there a consensus out there regarding which of these two Ipod solutions is better? Which has the better bluetooth?
Any group buys organized for either?
ive had the nav-tv unit, had it replaced a few times before finally tossing it. have the mobridge unit now.....SO much better than the nav tv unit. clear crisper sound, more songs listed per page (i think its around 99 as opposed to 20 or 30 on the navtv unit), and no hang ups so far. navtv unit kept freezing, not being recognized, etc etc etc
etc
etc
etc....
i LOVE the mobridge unit !

does anyone have any pics of the embossed center armrest? just wondering what variants were offered
saw this one so far
I was looking for the plain leather one for mine...if you get the new one please can you PM me maybe we i can purchase ur old one
if anyone is interested in the "turbo" armrest, the part number is 955552309018YR
do you know the price on that turbo armrest? is it available by order or does it need to be ordered via a VIN who has previously factory ordered this option?

Question.
I have a 05 CS, have the 10.2004 version nav DVD in there.
Got my hands on the "PCM 2.1 DVD-Navigation North America" with a 10.2006 date on it (part # 997.642.257.04) and when I put it in my nav unit, it reads "incompatible disk"
any ideas?

not sure about the plastic bumper pieces, however, you will need a 'turbo' valence as the 's' valence is fitted for the 's' bumper....the turbo valence is lower and a different part.
so for your project you'd require a turbo bumper, turbo valence, and turbo hood.

I had my dealer hardwire my V1......why take a chance on screwing something up for a couple hundred bucks....
very simple just take into the driver side fuse box or use the homelink power in the center console
Yup, I agree....just grab power from the drivers side fuse box and ground it in there as well. Then you can run the wiring along the dash and 'push it' behind the dash cover....or if you want to mount it above by the visor, just pop the covering off the beam on the side...pops right off, run the wire through there, tuck it under the headliner...and you're all set.
i forget which fuse i used for the radar detector but i used one that was only powered when the ignition was turned on...so that way it turns off when the key is removed...but that was a personal preference

I had the same issue as well on my 05 CS. Dealer said it was a common problem. Replaced the airbag harnesses in front drivers and passsengers seat..under warranty.

Hi
All Cayenne's with single air conditioning system have this problem, there is no fix for so far as i now, only the dual system ( option ) is powerful enough to regulate the interior temperature in country's with a lot of sunshine.
thanks for the reply! well my problem is not even so much regulating or maintaining the interior temperature, as much as it is to get air out of the vents for the rear occupants so they dont stifle to death!!
-
Hey , I have a question. Does anyone know the trick to getting air in the rear? I have an 05 CS...and with the AC blowing low or mid strenght, theres no air coming from the center rear vents or the rear sides by the door. With it blowing at full strenght, theres VERY LITTLE air coming out to the sides by the door, probably not even enough to put out a match, and a whisper of air coming from the center rear if that.
The leave the blower setting on auto....but i tried putting it on the middle vents and still no air.
Any advice? Is this a problem that has to be fixed via dealer?

no its definitely in miles, good point, thought of that, and checked lol but definitely in miles
well hopefully theyll have a new cluster this wk......i find it odd that they cant just reprogram the same cluster.....what a waste?
-
my pixels on my instrument cluster were burning out, so the dealer ordered a new cluster. well last night i dropped it off for service.
well they put in the new cluster, and my mileage on it went from 16,900 to 29,116.
any ideas on why? they cant figure it out so right now my mileage is reading at 29k, and yesterday when i dropped it off it read at 16k.....
i got it back and theyre gonna try to figure it out, ordering a new cluster to try it again. the dealer said when they put in the new cluster it automatically jumped to 29k. :angry:
any thoughts???
-
does anyone know if thats part of a package and if so what the name of it is? i dont have them on my 05 cS...if i wanted to swap them in, would it be an easy switch?
my uncles 05 CS has them and the 06 loaner i have right now has them..theyre interesting and 'cool' ha
-
id say plug in an OBDII and find out the code...thats your best bet
-
That is all ridiculous...I changed my foglights on my own by accessing them through the front wheel well covers...took all about 30 mins to change both.
