  1. My PCM broke and I bought a used one and replaced it.
Most things works just fine but I lost the "individual memory" and "sports chrono" settings etc.
It also nags me with an error on startup about the Navigation. The car it came from had a navigation unit.

My assumption is it would just be to load the codes with a PIWIS and remove the Navigation unit and CD changer it thinks it has?

I had it at a dealer and they say they can't get it to work. If I understand the notes they can't load the codes for some reason. Any ideas?

  2. What can this issue be?

    - Firm brake pedal with engine off.

    - Soft brake pedal giving way all the way to the floor slooooowly with engine on.

    - No visible fluid leakage and reservoir level stays same even if I continue pumping the brake over and over.

I have tried bleeding the brakes with Motive Power bleeder to see if that helped but no.

Is it the Brake booster or something else?

  3. Today on my way home from work something happened with the clutch.

It feels fine/normal when pressing down but when I release it hesitates/judders and the engagement feels weird.

Once it's up the car drives fine in gear.

The weird thing is that when the engine is off it feels normal when I press and release the clutch.

It does squeak a tiny bit though.

If I start the engine, in neutral and press/release I feel the judder on the way up.

  4. How did you replace it?

I need to open everything up and see what's wrong with my left rear quarter window.

There was a bad noise and now it doesn't work. I can hear an engine noise but nothing happens.

    Hello all,

First post on this board which has been a great resource of information...I have a 2000 Cabriolet and the passenger side quarter window stopped working (only grinding). I just replaced the door window regulator with all the tips on this forum...many thanks....but there is almost zero info on how to replace the quarter window regulator....Any and all help/suggestions greatly appreciated !!!

    ***update***

Well, after a Porsche tech "advise that you not attempt this", I jumped in. Conclusion...I replaced my defective regulator and buttoned everything back up and...it works great, took the better part of a whole day. If the regulator in the door is a 5/10 difficulty, this was probably a 8.5/10. One piece of advice I will share because I had to learn the hard way, DO NOT EVER DROP ANYTHING INTO WHERE THE REGULATOR RESIDES. If anyone needs some tips on this procedure, I would be happy to advise...

  5. How do you calibrate the top?

    I have the Smart Top.

When opening with the Smart Top the cab closes properly but the lid stops two inches from closed for some reason.

If I then use the button it closes properly.

I have occasionally had the cab top fault, but it always goes away. I also have the SmartTop module. Sounds like a sensor may be at fault. Probably need a PST2 or PIWIS to find the sensor.
  6. Where did you buy it?

It says you cannot buy it ...

If you go on 3M's webite youi will see they have a tape made for body accessorries etc. This works very well. If you get their adhesive promoter that also is a very good product. Be sure to finally clean the surface surface with rubbing alchohol before applying the new double sided tape.

Here is a link for the tape. http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/en001/a...ler/output_html

I had to reapply one of my sills because i didn't properly prepare the surface and the tape lost adhesion. This is the tape I used to fix the problem and it works great. For the tech people here attached the specs on the tape.

    Success

  7. I filled her up with distilled water and took off for work. Looked fine for 10 minutes then I saw the vapors from the rear.

Looks like the cap is bad. It's a .01 but sure "leaks"!

    Magnus:

Is your coolant tank cap firmly seating on the coolant tank neck?

Can you keep screwing the cap down until it "locks" (i.e., does it allow you to turn it until it won't turn anymore?), or does it get tighter and then "skip" and get loose again?

If it "skips", then check the top two or three threads on the coolant tank neck and see if they are stripped (chewed up).

If the threads are not stripped, and you are actually able to tighten down the cap until it's firmly seated, then buy a new ".01" cap. That's the cheapest step before you move on to another cause.

Let us know how you make out.

    Regards, Maurice.

The cap is firmly seated, I'll buy a new one and see if that helps.

    Thanks for the advice!
