  1. need a porsche specific scantool, like Durametric or icarsoft, but you have to hold th ebrake pedal for 30s or turn on the flashers to get the computers to wake up. See this post. Basically any weird faults, check the wiring under the carpets. This all happened the first rainy day after I bought the car, and a few days after changing the battery.
  2. You can connect a Porsche diagnostic tool or a Durametric (and icarsoft scan tool) if you hold the brake pedal for 30s or turn on the hazzard flashers. Then the Canbus modules will wake up. You should try that and read all the codes and rest them to get the car to start. This happened to me on the first rainy day after I bought the car. It was disabled just like yours (steering faulty, transmission won't go out of park, dash won't turn on, won't connect to ODII, engine won't start). In my case I noticed that the steering wasn't locked by looking underneath the steering column (I could see the bolt through the hole in the steering lock module). I disengaged the transmission lock manually and moved the car on a flatbed to get it home. I ordered a Durametric, and when that arrived I read the codes and reset them. Then the car would start. I then looked under the driver's carpet and found that there ar 6 wire splices from the factory that were corroded and the fabric electrical tape, that covered the splices, was damp. The moisture and corrosion was causing the canbus computer modules on that side to crosstalk. Once I cleaned up the wire splices and re-soldered them, I waterproofed them. It's been fine ever since, with no more steering locks. BTW, the steering column is coded to the car, you cannot just buy a used column and install it in the car. You do need to clear the codes before the engine will start.
