I get a persistent rattle from the passenger seat on my power regulated Carrera 4 seat. I can make the sound simply by hitting the back of the seat with my fist lightly. It goes slightly away when the seat is dropped all the way down. Also, if someone is sitting in the seat, there is no issue. It seems like the weight of the back of the seat is acting like a lever and the fulcrum point is the hinge. The play in the seat allows it to vibrate against the hinge. I would like to solve this problem and wonder if anyone has come up with a solution besides having someone sit there. -
Sun Roof Rattle

I solved my rattle from the sunroof area. It was two things. One, there is a plastic rail that catches water and moves it to the drains on either side of the car. The center of the rail which is made of white plastic was warped upwards just close enough that there was enough movement to touch the lip of the sunroof opening and rattle. It was worse when it was retracted because then it was hitting the metal stay that keeps the headliner taut. I took off the window trim front and rear as well as the pillar trim. I pulled the headliner out of its back hooks and undid about four of the metal stays that fit into holes along the top edge of the roof, allowing it to hang down without removing the whole thing. I put a small piece of hard cell foam in the middle of the rail and glued it, so it kept the plastic from hitting the sunroof. If you do it too much, the water will just stay in the center of the rail. Be careful! Then I noticed that there is a rubber strip that attaches to the flap on the headliner and this had simply come loose and was flapping around, without it in place, the drain rail would travel back with the sunroof lid and then touch the metal stay AND the rubber strip. So I glued the rubber strip back in. I put some sticky felt near where the hooks go into the area at the top of the back window and then put everything back together. No sounds!
