  1. I might suggest taking a look at the owner's manual. If I recall it's on the PCM menu (don't recall what section) and is turned on/off via the stalk. ps. Make sure you have 'Sport Chrono' . . . Do you have the 'wart' on top of your dash board?
  2. Anyone out there have additional info on this subject. I've tried a 3 ohm resistor pack and it didn't simulate the seat air bag. The seat bag light is annoying but not a show stopper.
  3. I suspect it's the front trunk control module. It was a pretty common problem on early (i.e. 2005) 997's. My old 997 suffered the humming phenomena and it was correct by replacing the front hood control module. I could be wrong but the humming is a tell-tale sign.
  4. TPMS was not standard in MY2005. It might have been optional but if you aren't getting a TPMS error signal I suspect your 997 doesn't have it.
  5. TPMS was not available in 2005. At least my fully optioned old Launch Car 997S didn't have it.
  6. If it's a factory installed PSE then I believe the PSE switch is connected to the DME. I believe I have a PDF of the 997 install technical bulletin which shows the direct connection to the DME. If you want it send me your email address via a PM and I'll try to find it and send it to you.
  7. You might try a 'hard' reset by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so. Does anything on the NAV side work? Can you set up a drive to location or see a map on the PCM screen? I think the antenna connection (as I recall) is on the PCM unit. You'll need to get to that by pulling the PCM out or getting a look behind it. A 'friendly' dealer might do a 'coutesy' reset for you.
  8. I had the same type of problem on my old 2005 997 when it arrived from it's previous home. I had my local Porsche dealer reset the NAV and it figured out the current location afterwards. I don't think you need a new DVD just a 'hard' NAV reset.
  9. I feel the pain. I sold my pristine 2005 997S (early VIN) a year ago today that I too had for 7 years. I was getting worried about IMS failures even though I religiously took care of it. I no longer have the 'IMS Cloud' overhead since I bought a shiny new 981S. GL . . . .
  10. Do some research to see if your VIN falls in the group covered under the class action suit. I'm afraid that even if it does and your not the original owner or were covered under Porsche's extended warranty program all you'll see is 25% of the C.A. payment. Look into the 'fixes' offered by LN Engineering, EPS, etc etc. Of course you'll need to determine if the bearing debris migrated throughout the motor which normally means a complete tear down & inspection. Hopefully you have a competent independent Porsche mechanic for this work. GL . . . . .
