  1. You might try a 'hard' reset by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so.

Does anything on the NAV side work? Can you set up a drive to location or see a map on the PCM screen?

I think the antenna connection (as I recall) is on the PCM unit.  You'll need to get to that by pulling the PCM out or getting a look behind it.

A 'friendly' dealer might do a 'coutesy' reset for you.

  2. Do some research to see if your VIN falls in the group covered under the class action suit. I'm afraid that even if it does and your not the original owner or were covered under Porsche's extended warranty program all you'll see is 25% of the C.A. payment. Look into the 'fixes' offered by LN Engineering, EPS, etc etc. Of course you'll need to determine if the bearing debris migrated throughout the motor which normally means a complete tear down & inspection. Hopefully you have a competent independent Porsche mechanic for this work.

  3. Just bought (pick up tomorrow) a new Cayman 981S from Pacific Porsche in Torrance, California. It's white/black w/ the option set that was very close to my requirements. My car just came off the transporter while I was signing the papers. Here's a few pics of her in the wrappers. The sales team at Pacific Porsche did a great job working w/ me and are really true 'Car Guys'. Pleasure doing business w/ them.

  4. If you have a early 997 (ie 2005) and you're experiencing slow cranking (especially when your car is warmed up) I'd look at the alternator/starter motor cable assembly. Its a fairly common issue; crimp or cable is offering too high a resistance. An upgraded replacement harness cost about $100 and it solves this problem. The harness comes in a 6sp and Tip version so make sure you get the correct one for your car (if that's the problem). I had my Indy shop replace it; about a 4 hour job for them.

  5. Hi Loren,

    I ordered a new 'Alternator Harness' for my 2005 997S w/ a Tiptronic tranny from a Porsche dealer and received one w/ the p/n 997 607 018 04. Does this supercede the 997 607 018 03 version? Is it the right one?

    Thanks,

    Arnie

Yes. 997-607-018-03 has been superseded by 997-607-018-04.

And the -03 is no longer available.

    Thanks . . . . .
