  1. I might suggest taking a look at the owner's manual. If I recall it's on the PCM menu (don't recall what section) and is turned on/off via the stalk. ps. Make sure you have 'Sport Chrono' . . . Do you have the 'wart' on top of your dash board?
  2. Anyone out there have additional info on this subject. I've tried a 3 ohm resistor pack and it didn't simulate the seat air bag. The seat bag light is annoying but not a show stopper.
  3. I suspect it's the front trunk control module. It was a pretty common problem on early (i.e. 2005) 997's. My old 997 suffered the humming phenomena and it was correct by replacing the front hood control module. I could be wrong but the humming is a tell-tale sign.
  4. TPMS was not standard in MY2005. It might have been optional but if you aren't getting a TPMS error signal I suspect your 997 doesn't have it.
  5. TPMS was not available in 2005. At least my fully optioned old Launch Car 997S didn't have it.
  6. If it's a factory installed PSE then I believe the PSE switch is connected to the DME. I believe I have a PDF of the 997 install technical bulletin which shows the direct connection to the DME. If you want it send me your email address via a PM and I'll try to find it and send it to you.
  7. You might try a 'hard' reset by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so. Does anything on the NAV side work? Can you set up a drive to location or see a map on the PCM screen? I think the antenna connection (as I recall) is on the PCM unit. You'll need to get to that by pulling the PCM out or getting a look behind it. A 'friendly' dealer might do a 'coutesy' reset for you.
  8. I had the same type of problem on my old 2005 997 when it arrived from it's previous home. I had my local Porsche dealer reset the NAV and it figured out the current location afterwards. I don't think you need a new DVD just a 'hard' NAV reset.
  9. I feel the pain. I sold my pristine 2005 997S (early VIN) a year ago today that I too had for 7 years. I was getting worried about IMS failures even though I religiously took care of it. I no longer have the 'IMS Cloud' overhead since I bought a shiny new 981S. GL . . . .
  10. Do some research to see if your VIN falls in the group covered under the class action suit. I'm afraid that even if it does and your not the original owner or were covered under Porsche's extended warranty program all you'll see is 25% of the C.A. payment. Look into the 'fixes' offered by LN Engineering, EPS, etc etc. Of course you'll need to determine if the bearing debris migrated throughout the motor which normally means a complete tear down & inspection. Hopefully you have a competent independent Porsche mechanic for this work. GL . . . . .
  11. re: 2014 Cayman S 3.4l Is the Mahle OX336D oil filter equivalent to the OEM 9A1-107-024-00 filter? Thanks . . . .
  12. Sorry about your motor but shouldn't this posting be in the 987.2 forum?
  13. Those are the 20" Carrera Classics ($2,730). Yep . . . painted center caps as well.
  14. Here's a few more photos 'unwrapped' sitting in her new home.
  15. Just bought (pick up tomorrow) a new Cayman 981S from Pacific Porsche in Torrance, California. It's white/black w/ the option set that was very close to my requirements. My car just came off the transporter while I was signing the papers. Here's a few pics of her in the wrappers. The sales team at Pacific Porsche did a great job working w/ me and are really true 'Car Guys'. Pleasure doing business w/ them.
  16. Wheel Enhancement in Culver City is a top tier operation. They know tires and wheels. They charge a bit more then the discount operations but you get what you pay for.
  17. Since the PCM 'talks' to the Bose Amp via the MOST Link (fiber optic) I think you'll be stuck w/ rewiring the speakers and sub-woofer the 'old fashioned way' . . . . hard wire, if & when you switch to an aftermarket unit (ie Alpine, Pioneer, etc). There are plenty of DIY threads on the various Porsche forums (ie. 6 Speedonline, Renntech, etc) that might give you better insight.
  18. If you have a early 997 (ie 2005) and you're experiencing slow cranking (especially when your car is warmed up) I'd look at the alternator/starter motor cable assembly. Its a fairly common issue; crimp or cable is offering too high a resistance. An upgraded replacement harness cost about $100 and it solves this problem. The harness comes in a 6sp and Tip version so make sure you get the correct one for your car (if that's the problem). I had my Indy shop replace it; about a 4 hour job for them.
  19. You could simply rewire the PSE vacuum solenoid to a toggle (SPST) switch that enables a positive 12 volt connection. You'll need to disable (disconnect or open) the wire from the DME. Exercise caution dealing w/ the DME. They are expensive to repair/replace.
  20. If your 2005 997 cranks weakly and even weaker when hot then it's most likely the alternator cable. I replaced mine w/ the 'improved' cable a few months back and now it cranks w/ gusto!
  21. You might try replacing the CATS w/ OEM ones. You might be able to find someone to swap w/ you.
  22. Yes. 997-607-018-03 has been superseded by 997-607-018-04. And the -03 is no longer available. Thanks . . . . .
  23. Hi Loren, I ordered a new 'Alternator Harness' for my 2005 997S w/ a Tiptronic tranny from a Porsche dealer and received one w/ the p/n 997 607 018 04. Does this supercede the 997 607 018 03 version? Is it the right one? Thanks, Arnie
